🌟 BlueFloat Energy was thrilled to contribute to the "Future of Energy" event organized by Solarplaza in #Amsterdam, with insights from Pablo Necochea, Floating Systems Integration Strategy Director, who participated in the "Harnessing the Potential of Offshore Wind Development" panel moderated by Doreen Abeysundra, Founder & Principal at Fresco CleanTech Solutions, and next to representatives from The World Bank, Van Oord, and #EIFO. The discussion explored crucial aspects of offshore wind's role in shaping the energy landscape. 💡 Key takeaways: ➡ Pablo emphasized the importance of effective regulation on offshore wind markets, highlighting how prevailing tender structures can either hinder or support market participation. ➡ He also described BlueFloat Energy's tailored market development approach in offshore wind. ➡Pablo stressed the need for government support in addressing infrastructure challenges in emerging offshore wind markets, particularly as regards grid expansion and port infrastructure. There is an urgent need for ambitious and well-funded grid expansion plans tailored to offshore wind, including proper sizing for efficient connectivity. 🗣 "Conventional offshore wind has thrived in the few countries lucky to have shallow waters, leaving many countries unable to tap into their offshore wind potential. Floating wind technology opens new horizons for offshore wind, providing access to stronger winds with greater siting flexibility, offering local industries an opportunity to diversify their activities and aiding coastal nations in their decarbonization efforts", Pablo concluded. In contributing to these discussions, BlueFloat Energy remains dedicated to addressing industry challenges and advancing the offshore wind sector, driving progress and innovation in energy space. 💚 #BuildingTheIndustryTogether #FutureOfEnergy #OffshoreWind #FloatingOffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #Innovation #FloatingWind

The press are here! Here’s a clip of our CEO, Andrew Jamieson, speaking to the media saying: "This facility represents a groundbreaking step forward in the commercialisation of floating offshore wind – a sector that will be critical to meeting our Net Zero targets. When you look at the projected global market demand for floating wind technology over the coming years, the opportunity is eye-watering; dynamic cables alone will be a more than £2bn global market over the next decade. Here in the UK we are well placed to play a leading role in that market by developing the supply chain to support the innovations that will bring this potential to life. Others are chasing the same prize though, so the time is right to make sure Scottish and UK companies are at the front of that race, and this facility is a key part of helping that happen.” #FLOWIC #floatingoffshorewind #floatingwindinnovationcentre #floatingwind #innovation #openingday #technologydevelopment Energy Transition Zone Ltd | Innovate UK

We are proud to release the 5th annual Supply Chain Impact Statement, showcasing 40 dynamic Scotland-based companies at the forefront of the renewable energy sector. Discover how these pioneers are not only driving our energy future but also bolstering the Scottish economy. Covering anything from remote ROV support to building a circular economy for Scotland through upcycling turbine parts, these Scottish powerhouses are driving progress forward and paving the way for a greener future. Emma Harrick, Head of Energy Transition and Supply Chain, said: “This year’s Supply Chain Impact Statement has given us a clear insight into the major role these businesses and organisations are playing in our industry with 90% of those confirming they have recruited exclusively for renewable energy roles in the last 12 months. “The businesses and organisations celebrated in the document represent only a small portion of the complex supplier network we need to deploy net-zero technologies and there will be more and more opportunities for our supply chain to grow further as we continue to build clean power projects across Scotland." 📖 Read the Supply Chain Impact Statement 2023/24 on our website: https://lnkd.in/eP8bF66W 🔗 Read our news release here: https://lnkd.in/exM3eCqh Thanks to our publication sponsors and supporters: BlueFloat Energy | Renantis Partnership, EDF Renewables UK & Ireland, Inch Cape Offshore Limited, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, OW Ocean Winds and SSEN Transmission . #supplychain #energytransition #renewables #energysecurity

One of the most interesting take-aways from Global Offshore Wind this week for me was understanding that continuous innovation in the sector is hampering sustainable growth. In Cambridge we are surrounded by innovation, it is what drives economic growth and has contributed to the city’s ‘Silicon Fen’ title. So I find the idea of strategically slowing innovation to scale intriguingly logical. The global offshore wind industry is projected to grow by 5x between now and 2030. Albert Winnemuller of Vestas presented a compelling case for slowing down to enable the supply chain to build resilience and profitability through quality, reliability and availability, and attract investment for scaling. Constant innovation has resulted in uncertainty and slowed growth to date. RenewableUK #offshorewind #energy #sustainability
