Antibiotics are among the most valuable tools modern medicine has brought forth. But even at the time of the discovery, it was clear to scientists that humanity had to handle this treasure responsibly to avoid losing it again. In numerous trials, phytogenic compounds derived from plants have been shown to be potent alternatives to antibiotics. This article, part of our Antibiotic Reduction Special, explains more about the use of phytogenic compounds to reduce antibiotics. ⬇ https://lnkd.in/e7y9PnNR In collaboration with Dr. Eckel Animal Nutrition GmbH & Co. News in Animal Nutrition! The EFSA has proposed the development of a comprehensive feed consumption database using a harmonized feed classification system. Currently, we lack accurate daily feed consumption data for both farmed and companion animals, which is crucial for effective exposure assessments. To access the report, click here: https://hubs.li/Q02RcXCw0 This report offers an overview of existing feed databases and their classifications, identifies gaps, and suggests updates for FoodEx2. The proposed model includes three key areas: Animal, Feed, and Consumption, aimed at better determining dietary exposure. Initial case studies show promising results, revealing lower dietary exposure to genetically modified feed compared to earlier estimates. Key recommendations include: - Establishing a unified EU classification system - Collecting real-life consumption data from industry stakeholders Stay informed! #CRO #CDMO #EFSA #AnimalNutrition #FeedSafety

Mycotoxins can cause a variety of health issues in poultry, Some are - Gastrointestinal problems: Diarrhea, vomiting, and inflammation of the digestive tract. - Organ damage: Kidney and liver damage, as well as other organs. - Immunosuppression: Weakened immune system, making birds more susceptible to disease. - Reproductive problems: Decreased fertility, egg production, and hatchability. - Skeletal abnormalities: Deformed bones and joints. - Mortality: Increased death rate in poultry. - Cancer: Some mycotoxins are carcinogenic. - Teratogenicity: Some mycotoxins can cause birth defects. Mycotoxins can also affect poultry productivity, causing decreased: - Growth rate - Feed efficiency - Egg production - Hatchability It's important to note that mycotoxins can have synergistic effects meaning that the combination of multiple mycotoxins can have a more severe impact on poultry health than a single mycotoxin. In short, mycotoxins can cause a range of health issues in poultry, from gastrointestinal problems to mortality, and can also affect productivity. It's essential to monitor and control mycotoxin levels in feed to ensure the health and well-being of poultry. #mycotoxinspoultry #poultryhealth #poultryfeed

MAGI-Acid KDF Helps Your Breeding Animals The gastrointestinal health of pigs is vital, influenced by nutrient sources and levels that impact intestinal development, function, and the microecological environment. A well-designed nutritional program plays a crucial role in maintaining gastrointestinal health, enhancing nutrient digestibility, and bolstering overall disease resistance. MAGIacid KDF (Potassium diformate) emerges as a reliable option not only for antibiotic replacement but also for nutritional optimization. Potassium diformate, an approved alternative to antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) in the EU, proves effective in enhancing intestinal morphology and boosting animal growth performance. By fostering beneficial bacteria growth and suppressing harmful bacteria, it achieves the core objectives of alternative antibiotics without inducing drug resistance. Primarily, its antibacterial properties shine through as it regulates the intestinal environment by reducing pH levels. This unique feature, attributed to formic acid and formate, aids in microbial control effectively. Additionally, it acts as a growth promoter, mitigating stress responses and weight loss in animals while stimulating protein synthesis, especially enhancing lysine utilization. Furthermore, potassium diformate serves as an excellent anti-mold agent, preventing feed spoilage, preserving feed freshness, and extending feed shelf life. Its benefits extend to poultry and aquaculture sectors, showcasing its versatility and efficacy in animal health management.
