Every year, I cherish the time reflecting on why 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 holds such a special place in my heart—gathering with family, savoring delicious meals, and honoring our cherished traditions. In the midst of a hectic and challenging year, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. Thanksgiving offers a wonderful opportunity to pause and 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, serving as a powerful reminder to 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀. Gratitude has been shown to significantly enhance well-being and happiness. A recent Harvard Medical School article shared several 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲: 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘦, 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸, 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘱 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘺? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬, 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘺? 🔸 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺? These are great questions for us all to consider. As Thanksgiving kicks off the festive season for many, let’s keep these questions—and their answers—in mind. 🦃A Thanksgiving Reflection on the Privilege of Caring This Thanksgiving, while many gather with loved ones around the table, I’ll be working. And though I sometimes feel the pull of FOMO for the laughter and connection of framily (not a typo) dinners, I know this: it’s not a sacrifice. On this day of gratitude, I’m reflecting on one of (my) life’s greatest honors: the privilege of caring for others. In healthcare, we are invited into people’s lives during their most vulnerable moments—times of joy, fear, hope, or uncertainty. What stays with me are not grand gestures, but quiet, profound ones: holding a hand in the ICU (YES- touch is powerful), offering words of comfort, or simply being present when someone needs to know they’re not alone. These moments remind me that caring for others is not just a profession—it’s a calling. This Thanksgiving, I’m deeply grateful for: ✨The patients who trust us to walk alongside them. ✨The families who remind us of the power of love and resilience. ✨The colleagues who embody compassion and dedication every day. (You know who you are!) ✨ MY health (as imperfect as it is) Healthcare is hard, but it is also deeply meaningful. It teaches us about connection, courage, and the shared humanity that binds us all. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, let’s remember the power of care, the importance of gratitude, and the impact we can have when we show up for one another. Happy Thanksgiving to all who care, who heal, and who love. #Thanksgiving2024 #Gratitude #HealthcareHeroes #PatientCare #Personalgrowth #Medicine #Compassion #Resilience #CareMatters #HumanConnection #Thankful #HealthcareProfessionals #leadership #LinkedInCommunity

🍁 A Heartfelt Thanksgiving Message from Dr. Sachin Maskey 🍁 As we gather around the table this Thanksgiving, let’s take a moment to appreciate not only what we have, but the profound impact gratitude can have on our lives. It's a time to connect deeply with our loved ones and consider the beauty in every moment we share. Gratitude is more than just a feeling; it’s a powerful force that can enhance our health and well-being. Research shows that embracing gratitude can reduce stress, promote heart health, and inspire positive changes in our lifestyles. It encourages us to recognize and cherish the relationships and experiences that enrich our lives. For me, Thanksgiving is also a time for reflection on the greater mission we all share: creating meaningful change in our lives and the lives of others. Whether it involves advocating for health and wellness, cultivating wealth through thoughtful investments, or inspiring others to pursue their dreams, each of us has the ability to make a difference. This season, I invite you to: 🌟 Pause and reflect—What are the things you hold dear today? 🌟 Prioritize your well-being—Celebrate in a way that nourishes both body and spirit. 🌟 Share your good fortune—Extend kindness to those who may be struggling, fostering a community of support and compassion. From my family to yours, I wish you a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, joy, and the promise of endless possibilities. Together, let’s commit to nurturing healthier, happier lives and brighter futures for everyone. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍂 #Gratitude #Thanksgiving #HealthyLiving #DreamBigThinkDifferent #WealthAndWellness

As we gather in the US this week to celebrate Thanksgiving, we grapple with significant questions and concerns about the economy, the strength of our democratic institutions, and the effects of long-term uncertainty. It may be hard to think about gratitude during this period, but think of it we must. Even as a micro-practice, it remains important. That said, what is top of mind is the imperative to gather: to commune; to break bread; and to engage in some form of ritual for our individual and collective health. When a community says that something is sacred, it becomes so. We develop rituals, or routines, that send powerful signals to each other about our values, beliefs, and identity. As Ter Kuile notes: “When we’re in the rhythm of the collective, we can be freed of our isolationist perspective. For a brief period of time, the lie of our separateness is exposed, and we remember that we are wholly connected to one another.” I invite all of us to find or create connection and meaning where and when we can. To allow time in our busy lives for spontaneous acts of joy and delight. To give thanks, but acknowledge where and what we grieve. And, as we gather, may we infuse these very acts with a sense of the sacred. Wishing you the joy of gathering during this holiday!
