When future US military capabilities are discussed these days, #artificialintelligence and how it will change the nature of warfare is at the top of the list. But within the Pentagon and the services, AI ambition does not match current budgetary realities...

It's 2024 and aliens are called ETs, and UFOs are called UAPs now.  https://lnkd.in/gWeyrzBu  War is not the answer. I think it's great that there are more powerful forces humbling US military.  If an air force squad can be split in the air by tampering with technology, then it is imperative to negate reliance away from computer screens, and onto the natural world. A flight plan must be made and adhered to, with changes made only through visual cues between pilots, verbal exchanges etc. If we continue to depend on systems which can be controlled by others, then we forfeit sovereignty. I believe they're only a threat because we're a threat.  #2024  It'll be a time of adjustment, as we inevitably phase out barbaric war tactics in favor of highly sentient tactics of peace. 

“UAP” stands for Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon, though it was initially introduced as Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon. The term is used in place of “UFO” (Unidentified Flying Object) by government and military agencies, especially in recent years. UAP is considered broader and more accurate since it can refer to a range of unexplained phenomena, including those observed in the air, water, or even space, rather than just flying objects. A timely and important Australian Strategic Policy Institute Special Report by Deputy Chief of Army Major General Chris Smith. It highlights how the mix of new technologies and other factors are reshaping the role of land forces and sketches some ideas for how they might contribute to Australia’s all-domain defence in various scenarios. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to the research and help edit the report. A must read.

My new report, with New America colleague Jessica Dine, highlights the potential of low-power, indoor-only sharing beyond 6 GHz – especially in some military and other federal bands -- where users can protect the primary incumbents operating outdoors from harmful interference. Indoor-only (LPI) spectrum sharing is particularly relevant as the National Spectrum Strategy studies alternative means to share bands relied on by U.S. military systems. The report suggests five federal bands as candidates—1,675 megahertz in total. Access could be unlicensed, licensed or licensed by rule.
