Battery cell housings should be tested for leakage in advance. Good pressure monitoring is essential during the subsequent process steps of drying and filling the cells. After filling the cells with electrolyte, the tightness of the cells should be checked again before formation. In electrode manufacturing for lithium-ion or sodium-ion battery cells, a number of process steps must be carried out under vacuum. The list ranges from pre-treatment in a colloid mill to drying in a vacuum chamber.
