The Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776. The United States of America is 248 years old and we celebrate this day together. We value ALL of our customers and want to see you again after this wonderful holiday.

Wishing all Americans a blessed Independence Day. If it has been a while since you read the Declaration of Independence, let me encourage you that there is no better day than today to fix that. It would only take you 3-5 minutes, but it would be the best 3-5 minutes of your day. The Declaration lays out the philosophical basis and justification for the Constitution (a document many of us have taken an oath, perhaps many times, to defend, possibly at the cost of our lives.) Those two documents form a coherent whole. The Declaration itself lays out the "Who/What/Why", and the Constitution build on that with "How". I hope you noted that those are 4 of the 6 elements of a good report - "Whiskey Five Hotel" (W5H - who, what, where, when, why, and how.) Have a blessed (and safe) day!

Today, as many in the U.S. observe the 4th of July, I find myself reflecting on the many dimensions of independence. Whether you're celebrating or, as Gabriela Acosta wisely puts it, hoping for more reasons to celebrate next year, it’s a moment to consider the deeper meanings of freedom. Independence Day traditionally marks autonomy from monarchical rule--which is particularly poignant this year--but deserves to be met with more than unequivocal celebration. Like all things, this deserves some both/and: - BOTH celebration of the freedoms achieved AND a recognition that there's so much farther to go, at home and abroad - BOTH awareness of the freedoms we look to the powers-that-be to guarantee for us AND the freedoms we need win for ourselves by demanding and acting on them - BOTH valuing essential political and social freedoms AND recognizing the personal entanglements and inner attachments continue to inhibit true individual liberation in so many ways This year, may we recognize that there are freedoms that we look to external powers to bestow and guarantee on our behalf, and other freedoms that we can only achieve through personal development and collective action. And, may we have more to celebrate next year. #independenceday #personalgrowth #collectiveaction #freedom

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸 Before gathering to enjoy your lakeside BBQs and evening fireworks, it’s worth spending a few minutes remembering and considering the daring boldness with which British colonists risked their lives to become American revolutionaries, and what inspired them to create the world’s longest-lasting constitutional republic, a brilliant form of government conceived by her founders to ensure unalienable rights for her citizens. Since the 1620s, Americans expanded across the continent with a sense of rugged idealism and purpose, ensuring survival from colonial Europe; overcame the ugly sin of slavery by giving 600,000 American souls for freedom; led the modern Age of Enlightenment with a system to encourage risk taking and free enterprise, resulting in the building blocks of our modern society, from the telephone to the airplane; joined with Allied nations to rescue the world from fascism in World War II; and defeated Marxism-Leninism abroad in the 20th century. Now America leads the technological revolution fueling the future of business, travel, communications, healthcare — the full 360 of American life. We have much to be proud of and thankful for as our nation prepares to celebrate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

This coming Thursday is the United States of America's 248th birthday. We used to call this holiday "Independence Day," and I believe that's still its official name. However, it's strange how, nowadays, people usually just call it by its date; "July 4th," or "The 4th of July." Why did we change the language in common speech? Maybe it's because of that old song, Yankee Doodle Dandy. Most of us know that we celebrate our independence from the tyrannical rule of the colonies by the monarchy in England. My question today is, Are we truly 'Independent?' Sure, we're no longer ruled by a foreign nation's monarchy in the political sense. We govern ourselves, don't we? The individual states are always vying for more of their own power in the language of the law, versus that of the federal government. That sounds like independence to me. 50 different sets of independence, all in somewhat of a conflict. Maybe we should depend more on one another. I mean that in the sociological & political senses, but also in the individual sense. Too much dependence is probably bad, but our own individualism seems to have created more division now than ever. I believe we each need others. Our sense of pride and self-importance may be more toxic than we realize. We don't all have to do everything on our own, and our own opinions and perspectives should not be all that matters to us. Let's be more considerate of each other! I need you, and you need me.
