🌟 A Resounding Success of the IDL 2024 Industry Showcase! 🌟 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the International Day of Light 2024 Industry Showcase! The event was nothing short of extraordinary, drawing over 100 attendees from the Sydney photonics community and beyond. Kicking off the proceedings was our co-founder, Dr. Katie Chong, who passionately shared the story of SPIN and the four-year evolution of the organisation from its inception to the spectacular event we experienced today. Our keynote speaker, Dr Simon Poole AO, mesmerized the audience with his insights into the economic impact of the optics and photonics industry in Australia and New Zealand. His focus on quantum sensing in the latter part of his presentation certainly shed some new lights, igniting engaging discussions in the rest of the evening. The spotlight then shifted to Katherine Kinder, who showcased Advanced Navigation's utilization of photonics to drive innovation in navigation technology, as well as their pivotal role in pioneering commercial-scale photonics manufacturing. Thomas Benke's presentation of the LEAP Australia ANSYS multiphysics software package provided a glimpse into simulating realistic structural and thermal effects in optical systems, catering to the technically inclined members of our audience. The event floor buzzed with excitement as attendees immersed themselves in captivating demos from our demo sponsors, fostering new connections and enriching conversations. We would like to thank all our sponsors again for their unwavering support, as well as our dedicated volunteers: Caitlin Zou, Cameron J., and Shridhar Manjunath, whose invaluable contributions ensured the seamless execution of the event.
