To eff the ineffable without effing it up. Psychedelics act as non-specific amplifiers. Mindset and Setting make a big difference in your experience. Solo or good company also matters. It seems like you only travel as deep as the field you're in allows you to. "Trip reports" are fun to share with likeminded individuals, or those curious. Mostly it's just incredibly difficult to put into words what occurs. My mindset is focused on both the personal and the collective, small systems and large systems. Logos and Mythos. It can bring you to places where you walk the terrain for which you've only studied maps or heard others speak about. Having a map does help, as long as you don't hold on to it too much. Like going sightseeing in a city as a tourist and only looking on the map to get to the next "must see spot". Exploring these altered states allow me to experience the reality of: 1. Multigenerational trauma, the inertia of decades of unresolved events and how it lives in the now. Learning to witness and let go, memories that don't even remember that they're still around in a body. Spectres of the past looking for closure. 2. The mystery of past (parallel) lives. I'm convinced the Buddhists are right when they talk about reincarnation, and that most of us are around for many cycles. There's wisdom in that. But don't ask me about specifics, that's probably me effing it up. 🙃 Happy Easter.

True self-inquiry is a path to reclaiming our power and our agency in this world. Shadow work has been one of the most powerful tools I have found for this process. That blended with Eastern wisdom has been life changing for both myself and my clients. I believe it can be a piece of bringing some harmony back into our disrupted world so it’s encouraging to see it become more mainstream again. However, when that happens, the true depth of it can get diluted and misunderstood. What’s that about internally?” The other reason that it’s helpful to do shadow work is that a lot of what is in the shadow is actually full of vitality and energy that we can use in service to life and growth. Are you on the psychedelics merry-go-round? You keep doing psilocybin or DMT or mescaline, but you always come back to the everyday standpoint. You feel frustrated and find yourself upping the ante with higher doses. But the result is the same. Once the plant medicine wears off, you return more or less to where you started. So you keep going round and round, only compounding the frustration. It’s even starting to detract from your day-to-day and is becoming an obsession. But in the back of your mind, a tiny voice says that psychedelics alone are not a reliable route to abiding realization. I’ve been there. I’ve done my share of psychedelics. I remember feeling the pull to do more because just maybe it’ll get rid of “me.” But it never did. It took self-inquiry to bop the “me” over the head. Through consistent investigation into my beliefs about the nature of reality and what I am, the “me” was seen to be unreal and the One Reality was revealed for good. In my 1x1 coaching with folks, we work together to permanently change brain synapses like this. Using self-inquiry, we overturn the illusion of self in a stable, consistent way. So over time you no longer feel the need to do psychedelics, because here and now is psychedelic enough! Time and space dissolve, the senses become hyperreal, the “me” center disappears, and thoughts quiet. And it sticks. Frustration and doubt slowly melt away and your life becomes one of simple joy, appreciation, and flow. No more obsession, no more trying to alter experience. Just acceptance of what is.
