Have you ever thought about why Relationships + Sex Education (RSHE) is so crucial? As practitioners of RSHE, we believe that it is essential to highlight its significance through our constant efforts. We have identified a few key principles that we follow to make sure that we deliver the best RSHE experience possible: - We make sure to involve students in the process to ensure that RSHE remains relevant to their unique experiences and identities. - Our team of facilitators comes from a diverse range of backgrounds, which allows us to take a more comprehensive approach to addressing various issues. - We believe in providing ongoing support to schools to create sustainable change, so the impact of RSHE extends beyond individual sessions. By following these principles, we hope to demonstrate the vital role of RSHE in promoting healthier relationships, sexual health + overall well-being among young people.

The Supreme Court recently landmarked judgment advocating for the implementation of sex education in schools as a means to curb sexual crimes and promote awareness among students. The court emphasised that comprehensive sex education is essential for equipping young people with knowledge about consent, reproductive health, and safe relationships. The judgment highlights the importance of educating children about sexual rights and responsibilities, aiming to reduce instances of sexual violence and exploitation. By integrating sex education into school curricula, the Supreme Court believes that students will be better prepared to recognise inappropriate behaviour and report it, ultimately fostering a safer environment. And we wonder why we have SO many issues around sexual violence in the U.S. Current Sex. Ed. Does NOT touch the emotional nuances of sex, let alone discuss the differences between emotional, mental, spirutal aspects of both sexuality and/or intimacy; what I call “The 50 Billion Shades of Intimacy.” We are failing our children, tweens, teens and young adults. Read the data from a survey (n=3,100) the Sexual Education for Social Change, a not for profit group, did with what tween and teens wish they were taught in Sex. Ed. https://lnkd.in/eVuYxZnQ

Did you know a recent survey found that 56% of Americans received sex education in only one grade? This leaves many without the comprehensive, ongoing knowledge they need to make smart choices about sex, contraception, and body awareness. Research shows that continuous sex education is highly effective in equipping young adults with the knowledge and confidence they need to stay vigilant about their sexual health. This also lays a stronger foundation for safe, responsible, and respectful decision-making that supports overall well-being. Together, we can continue to advocate for better sexual education and resources. #DrEricaKesselman #ParentingTips #TeenCommunication #SexEducation #ParentingAdvice #OpenConversations #PositiveParenting #TeenSupport #FamilyEducation #SafeSpace #ConfidenceInParenting #EmpoweredTeens #ParentingWorkshops #HealthyDiscussions

Too many teens get too little sex education. In 2015-19, only about 50% of adolescents reported that they received sex ed that meets the minimum standard articulated in Healthy People 2030. Comprehensive sex education is essential for adolescent reproductive autonomy. #TrustTeens (Lindberg & Kantor, 2021) H/T Youth Reproductive Equity This is why I want to do work to improve how sex ed is delivered to our teens. They deserve reproductive autonomy and reproductive justice.
