"It’s often said that transit infrastructure is pedestrian infrastructure. The refrain makes sense: when you exit a bus, you evolve from passenger to pedestrian. Waiting for, and walking to and from, transit is as much a part of the experience of using transit as actually sitting aboard a bus or train. And there’s a lot that can discourage prospective passengers from boarding before even considering the equipment, scheduling, and routes." "Yet, across North America, the experience of waiting for transit can be abysmal. Bus stops are demarcated by small, sun-faded signage and often nothing else." It doesn't have to be this way! Our new public-private partnerships put full placement control in the hands of the city and makes the 2016 report outdated. Reach out and get the details! Check out our new shaded bench too, it's the perfect solution and it's cost-free! https://lnkd.in/gHZCpjfJ

If you missed Friday's tutorial on the BRT, you have another chance to come check it out, ask questions, get familiar with the new stations
It’s been a week! I had the pleasure to assist with two sneak peek tours of Madison’s new BRT system as we gear up for the launch on September 22 and have been fielding lots of questions about red bus lanes and other aspects of the new system. As construction wraps up we are offering 2 community open houses for people to come check out a station, board one of the new all-electric articulated buses, pick up a new fast fare card and have any of your lingering questions answered! These are open to community stakeholders and the general public and we hope you can stop by. Here are the details: 🗓️ Friday, Sept 6: 12-3 pm 🗓️ Tuesday, Sept 10: 4-7 pm 📍Baldwin Station (E. Wash & Baldwin St) City of Madison, WI

Are you fascinated by Road Cones...and how they are deployed efficiently around the UK? Read our Case Study to see National Highways achieved dramatic cost savings when their #TRIZ team in Bristol invented a £50,000 solution (which needed only 0.5% of their £10 million budget) to solve the problem of how to track all ROAD CONES on major roads. https://hubs.ly/Q02_dNxG0

So much more thought and analysis is still required on the implementation of these projected goals Intriguing that we are still working on train nodes as the node, and unlike Northern Beaches not looking at the improvements that have happened to bus lines ( eg BLine) and how such systems might not be possible in East, West, etc to bring people in https://lnkd.in/gnj7FfqE

🚌ICYMI🚌 In coordination with Montgomery County, MD and WMATA, the Maryland State Highway Administration has decided to make almost 7 miles of bus🚌-only lanes on MD 97 between Silver Spring, MD and Glenmont, MD permanent. 🚌The temporary lanes are permanent effective immediately, and SHA will begin adjusting the permanent bus-only lanes for revised operational hours beginning in spring 2025. 🚌The bus-only lanes were installed last summer to efficiently transport bus riders during Metro work that closed several stations along the Metro Red Line. That work was needed to build connections with the Maryland Transit Administration’s future Purple Line light rail system, and to perform upgrades at the Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, Silver Spring and Takoma Metro stations. In addition to designating a lane for bus-only use, traffic signal timing was adjusted to prioritize bus movements and help reduce traffic impact along the corridor. 🚌After the stations reopened in September, the Maryland Department of Transportation, in collaboration with project partners Montgomery County Department of Transportation and Metro, allowed extension of the bus-only lanes as a pilot project through December to conduct additional evaluation. 🚌As a result of feedback gathered at a November public meeting attended by residents, commuters, businesses and riders of Metro and county Ride On buses, and Montgomery County, as well as from data gathered, operation of the bus-only lanes will be altered by Spring 2025 to peak hours only – 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – and will be in place only on weekdays. At all other times, the lanes will be made available for other uses as determined by the signage restrictions in place along the road, including many restrictions which predated the bus lane pilot. 🚌These changes, along with associated signage to reflect the new hours, will take effect this spring 2025. The project partners will continue to work together to evaluate future design improvements. 🌟Full Press Release from MDSHA can be viewed here 📰🔗 https://lnkd.in/ewVrvsEE #montgomerycountymd #MDSHA #wmata #metrobus #metrorail #rideonbus
