As I reflect on my time at AFROTECH, one thing stands out above all: the power of networking and building authentic relationships. One of my most meaningful moments came after attending a panel with the incredible Adrianne C. Smith. During our conversation, we discovered a mutual connection that she encouraged me to reach out to. That suggestion didn’t just expand my network—it deepened two relationships, creating new opportunities for collaboration and impact. If you’ve ever been to AfroTech, you know how dynamic it is! Panels, the expo floor, client meetings, and new introductions—all happening at once. With so much going on and just one of you, being strategic is key. Here’s my advice for navigating conferences like this: 🎯 Set SMART goals before attending: Know what you want to achieve and plan your schedule accordingly. 🤝 Be intentional about connections: Have a purpose, but stay open to unexpected opportunities. ❤️ Lead with a heart to serve: Focus on being a giver, not just a taker. Ask yourself, “How can I help this person or company succeed?” For me, AfroTech was a chance to strengthen existing relationships and discover new ways to serve clients. I’m inspired to continue supporting my partners like Palo Alto Networks, PepsiCo, and others while finding innovative ways to make an impact. A huge thank you to Morgan DeBaun and the entire Blavity Inc. and AFROTECH team for curating such an empowering space! If we didn’t get a chance to connect in Houston, let’s change that! I’d love to discuss your 2025 headcount needs and explore how I can support your goals. Great organizations start with great people and I would love to build something great together! #AfroTech2024 #NetworkingMatters #BuildingRelationships #ClientSuccess

😌Hello Tech Leaders of the SouthWest😌 🗣️ If you’ve been connected with me for any amount of time you’ll know I love a community event, I like sponsoring them, attending them, organising them, and yapping at them, and over a long time of doing things iO Associates - UK/EU have built a real understanding of not only the importance of local community groups, but how to make really good quality communities 🦸♂️ That’s why we’ve launched the SouthWest Tech Leadership Collective. A new group focused on leaders of all types within the Tech space. What we realised is that being a leader can sometimes be lonely - you face unique problems that you might not easily be able to get a second opinion on, and there’s not enough wide scale meetup events set up just for you. ☘️ So we solved the problem for you, youre welcome. Jokes aside we’re really passionate about community, and we want to build a space where local southwest tech leaders can get together - view talks that are relevant to them, and network with their peers. 👾 Our first event is happening on November 6th at our offices from 4pm-6:30pm (ish) - and will feature two talks 🫶🏼 Jen B. (Head of Engineering at GivePanel) - From Code to Confidence: Empowering Women in Tech 🫶🏼 Richard Tyler (Digital Transformation Director at BeDigital) - Beyond ‘Evergreen’: Creating a flexible, supportive and cost-effective organisation 🫡 If you’re a leader in the tech space and this event sounds interesting, send me a message. A lot of your “colleagues” are already signing up and we’re getting a great group. And even if you can’t make November 6th, it’ll be a recurring event so get in touch and I’ll drop you a note 🎵 Thank you 🎵

🏆 Empower Your Organization: Sponsor a Team of Allies 🏆 Is your organization ready to lead the charge in creating inclusive, high-performing tech teams? At Tech-Ally, we are calling on CEOs, CIOs, CHROs, Heads of Diversity, and Senior Leaders in Tech to invest in the future of their workforce.
