“I was watching an interview of Wayne Carini by SCM contributor Philip Richter. In it, Wayne mentions that this will be his 40th time going to Pebble Beach and Monterey. I’ve been more than 30 times myself and have a secret place to go to that I want to share.” – Keith’s Blog Click here to read more: https://lnkd.in/gqxjZMAD #montereycarweek #magazine #carmagazine #vintagecar #classiccar #carblog #automotiveblog #blog #classiccars #sportscarmarket

Some say that it was just a pokey little motoring show that outstayed its welcome. Or that it had become increasingly irrelevant to followers of Thunberg rather than Thunderbird. All we know is, it was called The Grand Tour. GTA, GTi, GTO, 911, 599, 309, Scuderia, superleggera, cambiocorsa. Originally part of the vocabulary of Sunday nights and latterly delivered periodically by Amazon Prime video. The petrolheads’ world was forced to move on a little today, after standing still for just over 2 hours. (Some might say 22 years...) And so it is for those who know what they like, and like what they know, that driving home the electric car imperative might prove to be a final turn-off. But it was never just about the vehicles, or internal combustion. Even the petrochemically disinterested could enjoy the on-screen chemistry demonstrated so honestly, so successfully and over such an extended period, stepping beyond the show into real life, it seems. Little did anyone understand how this occasionally volatile and always unpredictable mixture could be harnessed and preserved, but... how hard could it be? Any chemistry can easily be documented, replicated, industrialised. Can’t it? Attempts at scale manufacture of an alternative, replacement, synthetic fuel for The Gear-heads so far have suggested otherwise. At what point should both defeat and a new paradigm be admitted? There is zero horsepower in a horse as dead as Hammond's latest bargain banger, no matter how hard you flog it. So thank you, Willman, Clarkson, Hammond and May productions who, as W. CHUMP Ltd., created some of the finest television moments, documentary voice-overs and entertaining adventure this side of a David Attenborough epic. The scenery, the photography, the music, the camaraderie … and, as they return to the Valleys and the Farm, I defy even the most ardent Clarkson denier not to go at least a little dewy-eyed at the choice of soundtrack to accompany the final scenes of the three of them driving the last time across the Makgadikgadi. Good Times. Great Television. We'll never see the likes of them again. And on that bitter disappointment, it's time to end. Goodbye, and thanks for making The Grand Tour. #TheGrandTour #AmazonPrime #EndOfAnEra Jeremy Clarkson #ClarksonHammondMay #TopGear

For some, today is just the start of a new month. To me and many others, it is the anniversary of the death of a true great - Ayrton Senna, who tragically died 30 years ago on 1 May 1994 at Imola, Italy. He died a day after a rookie, Roland Ratzenberger in Saturday practice, and two days after fellow Brazilian, Rubens Barrichello had a near fatal crash. This podcast episode by Peter Attia with Dax Shepard on Peter's channel The Drive is a brilliant discussion about not only Senna as an F1 driver, but as a person, as well as discussing the evolution of F1 to the current season and many of the characters in F1. https://lnkd.in/ghKiJcB5 Whilst many people were critical of Senna's driving and competitive style, his legacy and character were enormous. It is argued his foundation has given more than USD500 million to Brazilian education and other causes. He was my only sporting hero. My father woke me up on the morning of the 2nd May saying Senna had a bad crash, and arriving home from uni saying he had died. I was devastated. No pun intended, but he was truly driven and perfection was his only measure of success. This turned many people off. This interview says it all: https://lnkd.in/g3F_NfEn For me, one of the many attributes that I admire about Senna is to live a full life. Taking the stoic philosophy - 'momento mori' - it is important to live a great life today because tomorrow you may die, whilst also making plans for the future. There are parallels with this mentality and what we, at Kennedy Partners Wealth do for our clients - taking advantage of opportunities today, to allow our clients to live a great life today and in the future.

1984-1987 Buick Grand Nationals and the 1987 GNX – A turbocharged approach to performance! While we take turbocharging for granted these days, when Buick applied it to their venerable V-6 in the 80s, it was considered radical. GM had been the the turbo business as early as 1961 with the Corvair Monza and Olds Jetfire, but those were crude applications. The computer-based engine management systems of the 80s allowed real HP from much smaller engines and Buick applied this with gusto.
