Yesterday afternoon I got a chance to attend APEXCHANGE Networking Mixer in Long Beach. It was a great networking event where I got to meet professionals in real estate, finance, and software engineering. Attending live networking events can often be intimidating, especially if you’re going alone, but so far I’ve found them very rewarding and engaging! 👔 💯 Here are a few things I’ve learned about networking so far: 1️⃣ One thing to keep in mind is that most people there are there to connect with others like you. You’ll find that others often take the initiative in starting the conversation. 2️⃣ People are interested in your story and are looking for something in common to connect with you. After talking about our line of work, people often find common ground in hobbies they share or find interesting. 3️⃣ Professionals in career fields different than yours often share their wisdom and resources that you or others in your circle might benefit from. Others might also benefit from the knowledge and wisdom that you bring to the table. Special shoutout to Javier Vital for the invitation! It was great meeting Vincent Chen, Jose Escoto, and other cool people at this event. I’m looking forward to the next one. #networking #APEXCHANGE #educator #webdeveloper

With DevCon wrapping up, here's some advice about web3 conferences: First, go with a goal... 👇 Networking, learning, and participating are all valid high level goals. Try to be specific, and set some KPIs for yourself. Second, have a lead capture strategy. Sign up for all the events you can and download Telegram Messenger before you go. You're going to meet a lot of people, and 99% are going to ask for your telegram info, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, whatever. Third, Boil your pitch down to 1-3 sentences. If theres a fit, the conversation will turn deeper. A couple pro tips while we're at it: -Screenshot the QR that leads to your profile and use it for your lock screen. -Make a response template that you can copy and paste into the DMs -Dont leave the leads in telegram. Track them somewhere like HubSpot, 3RM.co, Notion, or sheets. Save yourself time and do it when you get up the next day. #web3 #businessdevelopment #conferences #ethereum #devcon

The best bit about an event is the time you get to move around the room. Networking is where the real learning happens, sharing your knowledge, real life experiences and meeting new people. Current view of our 6th #SocBizExchange event ⬇️ #NewConnections #Learning #Networking #KnowledgeExchange

Are you running a virtual community? 👨👨👧👦 Here is a great meetup format by Chris Do In his video "How To Build An Online Community (Complete Guide w/ Tom Ross).” They talked about a monthly virtual meetup. And their format is so simple, yet effective: 1. Speed networking (30 minutes) 6 rounds. 5-minutes per round. Add a prompt: "What do you need help with?" or "How can you help serve other people?" 2. Virtual tables (open ended) Each with a topic of discussion people can choose. My addition: Highlight a member of your community. Give them a 10 minute speaker slot. There are lot's of tools that enables this format. They use AirMeet, but I would suggest MixUp 😉 What's the best virtual meetup format you've seen?
