🚀 Exciting News in the Raw Materials Sector! 🌍 Today marks a significant milestone with the publication of the CRM Act in REGULATION (EU) 2024/1252. This regulation is pivotal for the EU, ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials essential for our green and digital futures, as well as the defence and space industries. Key Highlights: The legislation categorizes raw materials into two essential groups: 34 critical and 17 strategic materials. It sets forth ambitious benchmarks for the EU’s consumption of these materials annually: - Local extraction accounts for 10% - 40% to be processed within the EU - 25% sourced from recycled materials To boost strategic development projects: Member states will establish dedicated points of contact to streamline processes at crucial stages of the raw materials value chain. Permitting Speeds Set: Extraction initiatives will secure permits within a maximum of 27 months. Recycling and processing endeavors will have a quicker timeline of just 15 months, incorporating provisions for community engagement and environmental assessments where needed. Moreover, large firms in strategic technology sectors, including battery, hydrogen, and renewable energy production, are required to conduct thorough risk assessments of their supply chains to pinpoint and address vulnerabilities Download here: https://lnkd.in/ek79CCGP
