Here is today's video message from our amazing Secretary of Economic Development for the State of Massachusetts: Yvonne Hao. Under Secretary Hao and Governor Maura Healey our state continues to lead the way in the AI Revolution, just like we did in the digital revolution, and before that the American Revolution.
Today, we've had thousands of job seekers take next steps toward working, staying, and thriving in Massachusetts. We had the unique experience of having to shut down access to the Hynes (good networking line), and it's still going.
I've professionally found some amazing talent for my growing team at Squark - and I know the leading employers in Massachusetts from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Dell Technologies, Innovairre, Red Hat, DraftKings Inc., Jaxon AI, WEX, Overture Partners, are all feeling very positively about the #AI talent vibes in Massachusetts.
With great thanks to Raj Aggarwal from Amazon Web Services (AWS) - a great leader who can take control of a room, the experienced and esteemed Gregory Raiz from FoundersEdge, and Carol Meyers band member and board director + operating partner of Glasswing Ventures. And the legendary connector and photog John Werner. Big thanks to them and you!
Hi everyone. I'm Yvonne Howe, our Secretary of Economic Development for the state of Massachusetts. I am super bummed not to be there with you all today, but I want to take this moment to give a special thank you to Judah Paul and Northeastern Institute for Experiential AI. Huge thanks for organizing this incredible event. And most of all, thank you to all of you, all of the attendees who are here today to talk about the future and all the possibilities with artificial intelligence. Now, we in our state of Massachusetts, we've always led. We've LED for a long time. Going back to 250 years, we led with the original risk takers who threw some tea into a harbor and they sparked a revolution. And we've led ever since then through innovation and through invention. We've LED for for many, many, many years. And now is not the time to stop. We are right this moment on the precipice of another revolution. We are in the early, early days of the future of AI. And we know this new technology has tremendous power to transform the world in so many positive ways. And to do that, a Governor Healey announced a statewide AI task force earlier this year. And the goal is to put together 26 of our top experts from across the regions and across all different areas of the economy. And we pulled on 250 experts from all these different sectors. And our goal in the task force is to come up with specific recommendations to partner across the state and all of our ecosystem to lead and applying AI to solve these big problems, to cure disease, to make the world safer, to prevent climate change, and to help people live better, healthier, awesome lives. So that's really our goal here in Massachusetts. And we're so well positioned here in our state. We had over over 6500 AI graduates per year and that is the highest per capita out of anywhere in the country. We also have some of the top leading universities. In terms of AI programs such as Harvard and Northeastern and MIT and so many others, and we have all of you, our weakest smart talent. You are the secret sauce of what's driven our success for so many years and enable us to lead. So we're really excited for you all to be here today and really excited for this future of AI. So let's work together. Let's go, team Massachusetts.
