As an educator deeply invested in pedagogy and digital education, I am constantly intrigued by how technology reshapes teaching and student learning. Generative AI, one of the most groundbreaking innovations of our time, challenges us to rethink how we teach and prepare learners for an AI-driven world. Earlier this week, I had the privilege of leading a workshop with an inspiring group of educators and industry leaders from the Chartered Governance Institute New Zealand (CGINZ). Drawing upon my research in AI and years of experience in education, I designed this session to explore the thoughtful integration of AI into teaching and assessment. We discussed key issues such as privacy, academic integrity, and equity while exploring how to harness AI's potential to foster critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability. A key takeaway I shared was a set of guiding principles for incorporating AI ethically into assessments—an approach participants found valuable.
