Healing goes beyond just venting and seeking validation. While these steps might bring temporary relief, true healing involves actively working on underlying issues, understanding patterns, and making conscious changes. It's about growth and not just maintenance. What steps are you taking to ensure your healing process is more than just talking and being validated?

Venting to your therapist every week about whatever happened, is NOT HEALING. Getting validation from your therapist every week, is NOT HEALING.

Actively listen, with care patience and empathy, or risk making it worse. When someone needs your support, and help with a difficult time that they are going through, it is vitally important, that you actively listen. You must do this with #Warmth #Care #Patience and #Empathy. They need you to understand, what happened and why they feel like they do. If they don't know how they feel about it, or are not conscious of it, then ask and support the journey to find out. Equally, it is just as important, to help them to understand other people's point of view and likely perspectives. Above all, is is of the highest importance that you, keep your tone even, as warm, caring, patient, empathetic. If you break that 'mode'. You run the risk of being cold, and not listening and worse still, you may come across as attacking in your feedback. This is the single most critical point, as going down the road of a perceived attack on the person that you are trying to help will do more damage than if you had not offered to help at all. So, Actively listen, with warmth, care, patience and empathy. Then feedback with the same warmth, care, patience and empathy. namaste simon #activelistening with #care #patience and #empathy or risk making it worse #activelistening https://lnkd.in/eh83HamZ

How do you quantify reablement in your service? Reducing the need for further ill health supporting people using your service to be as independent as possible ? Do you score the support you offer to people using your service? When I was a service manager for a reablement service we scored : 1 = independent 2= needs prompts or supervision 3= needed some support 4= totally dependent This is how we measured progress with activities of daily living and, helped provide evidence of, no longer needing support or, the need for ongoing funded support. My personal measures are; 1= can do up my own bra 2= can put my own hair into a ponytail 3= can undo my mascara and put it on with my dominant hand 4= can type and use my mouse to begin audits of care plans: How ever you record levels of independence and monitor progress , being so dependent these last few weeks has reminded me how important it is to feel like you can do some things for yourself. People mean well to do for you but, it means the world to do small things for yourself ❤️

You can’t always drive 100 km/h. If you want to take a turn or need fuel, you have to slow down or even stop. If you don’t, you may cause an accident and/or you will be stopped by the police. You will be annoyed and feel resistance, however you will change your behavior. But what if not the police, but your own body tells you to stop or slow down? We also feel resistance and we look for external solutions or arguments (it’s not so bad, or it’s almost weekend, or go to the physiotherapist) to continue as soon and as fast as possible. If you continue at a fast speed, there is a moment when you have to make an emergency stop. Press the breaks as hard as you can. Have you ever done this with your car? Do you remember that you had to calm down first, get your breathing back to normal, before you can act again? This happens as well with your body in a burn-out. It’s an emergency stop. What was the last time you had to press the breaks for an emergency stop? Enjoy this video from @Alex Gerdes & me. Next: BML & the steps of awareness

Ask R U OK❔ Any Day because life happens every day. "A lot can happen in a year, a month, a week. Whether it’s your friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about go through life’s ups and downs every day. And they’re not alone, with 72% of Australians reporting elevated levels of distress. (1) Regular, meaningful conversations with the people close to you can help prevent small things from becoming big things. By checking in regularly, you build trust and normalise talking about what’s really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you’re someone they can talk to." 💚 🧡 💙 Today is R U OK❔Day on September 12, but Ask R U OK❔ Any Day of the year because a conversation could change a life. 1. YouGov (2024) Suicide Prevention Australia Community Tracker - June 2024. Australia. ➡ Sometimes a conversation becomes too big for friends and family.
