Welcoming a new puppy into the family is an exciting time, but it also requires careful planning to ensure the transition goes smoothly for everyone (including the pup!). Decide on things like feeding times, where the puppy will sleep, and any off-limit areas. Consistency helps create a structured environment. Puppies need a safe, quiet spot to adjust to their new surroundings. Having a designated space with toys, water, and a cozy bed can help reduce their stress. Introduce Family Members Gradually: Allow the puppy to meet each family member individually to avoid overwhelming them. Kids especially should learn how to gently interact with their new pet. Unfortunately, all the preparation in the world does not guarantee that every family member will bond with the new puppy. If you experience trouble, remember that puppies are forever, and that children are terrible at finding their way home.

What comes to your mind when you hear the word- Pet Parent? The term is still a new concept for many of us who do not have a pet at home or in their circle. Pet parent is someone who does not see their pet as a possession, rather we raise them as our child. We are EMOTIONAL ones- invested in each and every aspect of their life like a human parent. We are the new NORMAL - having a bond with our child which works beyond spoken words. We are the HARDWORKING ones RAISING our children to be successful (yes pets can be successful too) and live the healthiest life. We go above and beyond to ensure our child is SAFE and comfortable. We are the CRAZY ones, who convert a 2 hour flight into a 14 hour car journey to be able to take our kids along. We are the RATIONAL ones - answering each and every question of the society with a smile (mostly ;)) We are the PROUD ones melting at one Hi-five or purr. Cheers to being a pet parent and being the poineers of co-existence. 🐾 #proudpetparent #dogsarefamily #petparents

A damaging myth surrounding dogs, particularly puppies, when they get to their new homes is that, if the cry, they should be left alone so they learn to stay quiet overnight. This is absolutely not the best way to help that new family member feel safe and comfortable in their new home. From #BuildingTheBond: "A puppy is like a human child. They cry when there is something they need, including comfort and connection. If they do not get a response when they are crying then yes, they will stop, but not because they have settled. They have learned that nobody is coming and so they give up trying. This will have a serious and damaging effect on the bond between them and their family, and at probably the most vulnerable time in their lives emotionally. One of the most important things we can focus on in these early days and weeks of our shared lives is helping them to feel safe and secure and responding to their needs is absolutely the best way to go about this." In those early days have them sleeping close to you, and respond when they are distressed. It does not mean that they will always cry at night. It will, however, help them to realise that they are not alone and that they can sleep safe and sound knowing you are there if they need you during the night. Say hello to Kirby! Raising puppies for Guiding Eyes is an adventure filled with fur, fun, and a few chewed shoes. But beyond the cute snuggles and puppy breath, it’s taught me some valuable life lessons. - Consistency is Key to Success- Whether it’s teaching a puppy to sit or hitting those quarterly targets, consistency is everything. Just like a puppy thrives on routine and clear commands, we thrive on steady effort and unwavering dedication. Remember, a treat (or a promotion) is just around the corner if you stay consistent! - You Can Find Community if Your Eyes Are Open - Walking around with a puppy-in-training is like being a celebrity. People of all ages and backgrounds stop to chat, share stories, and offer support. It’s a beautiful reminder that community is all around us—we just need to open our eyes (and sometimes our hearts) to see it. - Patience, Patience, and More Patience - Puppies are a lot like life: unpredictable and occasionally messy. Learning to be patient, whether it's with a rambunctious pup or a challenging project, is essential. After all, every chewed-up shoe or extended deadline is just another step towards growth and understanding. - Celebrate the Little Wins - When that puppy finally masters a command, it’s like winning the lottery. In life, we often overlook the small victories, but they’re worth celebrating. Whether it’s landing a new client or getting through a tough Monday, take a moment to enjoy those little wins. Happy Monday! #GuidingEyes #PuppyRaiser #LifeLessons #Community #Patience #Consistency #CelebrateTheWins #MondayMotivation #PersonalGrowth #DogTraining #Leadership
