My HAPPY NEW YEAR REALITY - For a job in #Nashville (I won't say where), the interview panel said I was overqualified for the job. They gave the job to someone far less qualified (even for the job description) and white. I checked! I now understand what they mean. Regardless of the horrors that have taken place before or during an interview, it’s important that you lean into them and remain professional. Utilise the tools you have developed through your work experience and most importantly – don’t ghost a potential employer. #ghosting #noshow #uncontactable

The video below is a follow-up to another Kountry Wayne (IYKYK) skit I posted recently. This storyline focuses on Ashley trying to transition from club jobs to corporate ones. In the first skit, she used a resume that was full of lies and the interviewee was with someone from high school who didn't have positive views about her. Needless to say, Flawless didn't get the job. Ashley gets the job in this skit, but what interesting aspects stand out to you? #networking #interviewing #JobSearch #reputation #JobInterview

My chat with Bill Cushard on "Rebel Intrapreneurs" can revolutionize your resume thinking. The goal is for your resume to tell the story you want the hiring manager to know - that you are an amazing, ideal candidate for the role they are looking for. We talk about how to ensure your resume is tuned to the human reader (the hiring manager): * Avoiding confusion * Creating differentiators * Showing impact Leading them to the conclusion "I need to talk to this person!" And we cover what to do with that long list of keywords that the ATS loves so much. It was a great, fun conversation. Bill asks excellent questions! And if you're working on your resume right now, or ever expect to need one in the future, it's worth your time to listen.

In today's professional world, where diversity and inclusion are more important than ever, it's disheartening to still encounter ageist remarks during interviews or in the workplace. Whether you're considered too young and inexperienced or unfairly judged as too old and out of touch, such comments can be demotivating and downright unfair. But remember, your value isn't defined by your age but by your skills, experiences, and the unique perspective you bring to the table. Watch this video to learn how to overcome ageist comments in an interview. In a recent interview with Adilstone Group, Kristi Kennebrew from Get Me Hired Kristi gave us her tips for standing out as a candidate. First, she highlighted the importance of tailoring your resume to the role you are applying for. Assess your fit for the basic requirements of the role and then customize your resume around that. Reaching out to someone with experience in that role can be a great boost as well. Second, taking the small-step of following up after submitting an application or attending your interview can help you stand out from other candidates. Check out more of our interview with Kristi at this month's newsletter! #personalrecruiting #candidatetips #jobseekingtips #resumetips #getmehired #recruitment #onlyadilstone

LinkedIn is hereby declared to be the new Myspace. how do I make my profile have a song?!? Also, if you don't have a question to ask an applicant during the interview, ask what their all time, number one, favorite song ever is. When they tell you, just say "interesting..." and figure out what they meant by it later. They get moved to the top of the list if you can get them to sing part of it to you. #HiringHack #protip #interview
