Today is a big day for us here at Unlock Net Zero…we are publishing our first report. Our “Cities, placemaking, living and the net zero challenge” report explores the work of UK cities to develop regeneration and placemaking in conjunction with the transition to net zero. Over the last twelve months we have spoken with cities and local authorities from across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to understand how they are tackling these complementary agendas and their plans for the future. There is a lot of great work underway and the way we will deliver a successful outcome for all is by sharing our knowledge because this is a collective challenge that requires a collective solution. Successful delivery on these agendas will be based on knowledge, not knowledge that is kept to ourselves but rather knowledge that is shared openly. We want this report to contribute to this knowledge sharing. NetZero WEEK 6-12 JULY 📢 NZF don’t just promise – we deliver We don’t want to simply pay lip service to what we believe is one of the key issues of our age, we wanted to prove there was a better, more sustainable way forward – for both our business and for the construction industry as a whole. We determined clear goals and established full traceability of all our actions and achievements, and we continue to monitor and adjust them at every point on our journey to reach our stated goal of Net Zero by 2050. The commitment to reach Net Zero is one of the most important we face – the future of our planet, quite simply, depends on it. Net Zero Week is a vital reminder to all of us not only of how much more there is to do, but to reflect on how far we’ve come. Because NZF and businesses like us who are committed to those targets are proof that, with foresight and commitment, it can – and will – be done. NZF is on track to reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions In the first 9 months we have reached our goal to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 19% and look forward to building upon this positive start. NetZero Facades drives 100% renewable electric NetZero Facades’ entire logistic fleet – a combination of small lightweight vans and medium cars specialist customised flat-bed trucks switched to using 100% renewable electricity for charging all NZF delivery vehicles at base in March this year. NZF nominated as a finalist at the Construction News Specialist Awards We were proud to have paid a pivotal role in the refurbishment of Glasgow’s landmark Aurora building at 120 Bothwell Street, which – with 77.4% of embodied carbon retained post-refurbishment – has since been dubbed the city’s ‘most sustainable office’.
