Welcome to our Bart's Plus Family Service 💙 At Bart's Plus, we’re proud to provide a safe, trauma-informed, and recovery-focused space for families who have experienced homelessness within the Perth metro area. We are currently housing 9 families, with children as young as 19 months up to 17 years. Our program offers a nurturing environment in fully furnished homes with two and four bedroom options. Our dedicated support staff work closely with parents to build community networks, access essential services, and work through trauma-related challenges, all while assisting in the journey toward stable, long-term accommodation. No family should ever have to experience homelessness. If you want to help, a donation can go a long way. This week we are acknowledging Homelessness Week at Star to drive awareness of the impact of homelessness in our community. A big focus of this week is our Op Shop Fundraiser, with all proceeds raised going towards Sacred Heart Mission’s Women’s House. We are asking each student to donate two items of quality clothing, or one item of clothing and a warm blanket to support this initiative. These items are to be given to students' mentor teachers. We are aiming to conclude the donation drive on Monday July 29th. Alternatively you can donate directly to Sacred Heart Mission’s programs via their website: https://lnkd.in/gBmju-gY Domestic and family violence is the leading cause of homelessness for women, with 45% of all women and girls seeking assistance identifying family and domestic violence as a cause. In fact, 2 in 5 women (39%) have experienced violence since the age of 15. What these devastating statistics don’t tell us however, is how many women are slipping through service gaps. Since 2012-2023, the number of women and children experiencing homelessness has doubled. The Women’s House is a sanctuary for women in crisis. It is a safe space where they can share their experiences and receive person-centred, specific support.

Did you know that over 38,000 young people aged 15–24 years presented alone to a homelessness service in 2022–23? Of these young people, almost half experienced mental ill-health, and over one-third experienced domestic and family violence. Most of these young people needed short- or long-term accommodation, and most were turned away due to a lack of capacity. These statistics only scratch the surface of issues that young people experiencing homelessness face. To have statistics like this in a country like Australia is not acceptable; together, we can have a tangible impact, and now is the time to act. #wehavetodobetter #YHMD

Our friends @Justlife carried out research into women’s experiences of homelessness in Brighton & Hove. It’s a story of domestic violence, unhealthy relationships, complex feelings around motherhood and lack of basic safety while in temporary accommodation. We’re fundraising this week to create a year-long programme of free dance classes with and for women who have experienced homelessness. Everything you donate before midday on Tuesday 26 March will be doubled by @BigGive here: https://lnkd.in/e5jSDYD3 Thankyou 🙏 #ArtsForImpact #homelessness #danceforwellbeing #womeninrecovery #fundraising #Brighton&Hove Video description: A video showing roads, streets and cars with text about three things you might not know about temporary accommodation: - it's often not temporary. The shortage in social housing means people can wait years for their own home - living conditions can be poor. Common complaints include damp, overcrowding, infestations and feeling unsafe - people in temporary accommodation are often not considered homeless because they have a roof over their heads

Family homelessness is preventable, with your help. We're wrapping up our annual peer-to-peer fundraising campaign. I set my goal at $7,500, and am just $1,200 short of that mark. Your tax-deductible contribution will ensure that asset-limited, income-constrained employed parents will have access to a financial safety-net, and that parents who are under-employed or unemployed will have access to the services they need to retain or regain housing. At Wellspring, our focus is on preventing homelessness. It's less expensive for donors and our government, less traumatic for children, and less costly to the employers for whom these parents work. Every dollar helps. Thank you for your contribution. https://lnkd.in/ggPEc_qK

Once again, the number of children experiencing homelessness has risen. In Greater Manchester, that's 7,679 children living in uncertainty and disruption. At the same time, we've seen a rise in the number of households owed a relief duty by their local authority. In other words, a rise in the number of households who are currently homeless. Genuinely affordable housing, meaningful preventative work, and full wrap around support to people without a home or facing a night on the streets are some of the raft of measures needed to truly end homelessness, and truly eradicate the need for rough sleeping. Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity are proud to support so many dedicated organisations in the city-region working hard to bring about real change, but we depend on the generosity and support of the businesses and people of the region to do that. If you can, help us be a lifeline to organisations on the frontline. https://lnkd.in/eH-Y9J9R We'll keep advocating for them, supporting them, and getting as much funding to them as we possibly can. Together, let's end #homelessness. The latest homelessness stats have been released and they paint a bleak picture. More children than ever are experiencing homelessness in England, including here in Greater Manchester. Too many young people are at critical stages of their young adulthood without the safety and security of a home. This disrupts learning, it disrupts relationships and it disrupts lives. We hope the new approaches that the new Government has tabled, especially their plans for housing, will provide some positive news in the months ahead, but as these figures show, there is a national crisis taking place. In the past five years, the Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity has been able to fund over 78,000 nights of accommodation in our A Bed Every Night scheme for those who would otherwise have been sleeping on our streets, but we must do more. Everyone has a human right to have shelter and to feel safe. No one should be without a home, and we must continue to provide as much support as possible to those made most vulnerable by our society. Every donation we receive is vital to achieving this goal, allowing us to share funding where it’s needed most across each of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. Businesses can help support through corporate donations or by installing one of our ‘Tap to Donate’ machines at till points. To help us, please donate today: https://buff.ly/3uZMvs8

November is National Homeless Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge the struggles faced by young people, families, and individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. This also includes National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (November 15-22), a chance to spotlight these critical issues impacting our communities. At BEDS Plus, we’ve seen firsthand how the housing crisis continues to grow, affecting more people in the places where we live and work. Over the past year, BEDS Plus has helped change the lives of more than 5,000 people, offering essential services, support, and paths to stability. But this mission is ongoing—thousands more in our area need support, and we are committed to providing it with the help of dedicated volunteers and donors. As we enter the season of giving, we invite you to join us. You can make a difference by volunteering or donating to BEDS Plus. Let’s bring hope and stability to our community's most vulnerable together. 👉 Sign up to volunteer: https://lnkd.in/g3b6nH4s 👉 Donate to support: Donate to BEDS Plus https://lnkd.in/eKQXM65 #HomelessYouthAwarenessMonth #EndHomelessness #HungerAndHomelessnessWeek #BEDSPlus #GiveBack #CommunitySupport #Volunteer #Donate #HousingCrisis #MakeADifference #SeasonOfGiving

Together, we're bringing hope and stability to those in the Roanoke Valley who are facing homelessness or housing insecurity. Through collaborative efforts, we're committed to ensuring that homelessness is rare, brief, and non-reoccurring. In 2023, our three housing programs made a significant impact, providing nearly $400,000 in financial assistance for rent and utility support. This support prevented homelessness and secured housing for 286 households, including 98 children. But our work extends beyond numbers; it's transforming lives. Each statistic represents a story of hope and resilience. However, the need in the Roanoke Valley remains urgent. As housing costs soar and economic uncertainties persist, more individuals and families need help. Your donation supports our efforts to continue to provide these vital services, increase the effectiveness of our existing programs, and help us serve more individuals and families across the Roanoke Valley. TOMORROW is the BIG DAY! GIVE now at https://lnkd.in/d6vkz9tN #giveroanoke2024
