INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY is a specialized field of medicine that involves conducting various imaging procedures to capture internal images of the body. These images are carefully analyzed by interventional radiologists to diagnose injuries and diseases and carry out a diverse range of interventional medical procedures. Interventional radiologists utilize imaging techniques such as X-rays, MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging) scans, fluoroscopy (an X-ray procedure that enables the visualization of internal organs in motion), CT (computed tomography) scans, and ultrasounds. They perform a wide spectrum of procedures, including tumor treatment, organ biopsies, and stent placement, wherein they insert small instruments and slender plastic tubes (catheters) into the body through an artery or vein. These images serve as a guide for directing the catheters and instruments to the precise location where the procedure or treatment is to be conducted. #MICRadiologyGroup #MICInterventionalRadiology

Cardiac MRi and CT Hands-on Workshops - ESR | European Society of Radiology (myesr.org) General information: The aim of the Cardiac CT and MRI hands-on workshop is to provide advanced information (ETC II+III) about the most relevant topics in cardiac imaging like myocardial ischaemia, cardiomyopathy and inflammatory diseases of the myocardium and pericardium. Participants will learn how to report CT and MRI exams in different clinical settings, acquiring specific skills to be used in clinical practice. Participants will work on typical and atypical clinical cases reflecting the most frequent diseases in a clinical routine. According to the topic, mainly CT and MRI cases will be added with the support of other modalities like nuclear medicine, ultrasound and angiography. Participants will also approach the use of specific reporting systems like CAD-Rads for coronary artery and specific structured reports for other diseases. In the process of ensuring only the most appropriate investigation /examination is done for a specific clinical scenario, we ensure we answer the clinical question. By avoiding unnecessary and inappropriate investigations we manage healthcare costs (for payors - whether patients themselves or government and others), and contribute to sustainability (by reducing the carbon footprint of healthcare).
