St. Bernards Medical Center’s Interventional Radiology Department recently completed its 300th Inari thrombectomy procedure, marking the highest number of cases in the region. Inari Medical's thrombectomy devices aid in removing blood clots, like pulmonary emboli and deep vein thrombosis. Congratulations to Drs. Richard Reinholtz and Jack Johnson, Interventional Radiologists, and the entire IR team at St. Bernards on achieving this milestone!

INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY is a specialized field of medicine that involves conducting various imaging procedures to capture internal images of the body. These images are carefully analyzed by interventional radiologists to diagnose injuries and diseases and carry out a diverse range of interventional medical procedures. Interventional radiologists utilize imaging techniques such as X-rays, MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging) scans, fluoroscopy (an X-ray procedure that enables the visualization of internal organs in motion), CT (computed tomography) scans, and ultrasounds. They perform a wide spectrum of procedures, including tumor treatment, organ biopsies, and stent placement, wherein they insert small instruments and slender plastic tubes (catheters) into the body through an artery or vein. These images serve as a guide for directing the catheters and instruments to the precise location where the procedure or treatment is to be conducted. #MICRadiologyGroup #MICInterventionalRadiology

Here is a link to a recent podcast i did for The Radiology Report focused on Interventional Radiology in this changing world. https://lnkd.in/esbxAMqS
In this episode, Daniel Arnold sits down with Jason Levy MD, FSIR Dr. Jason Levy is a practicing Interventional Radiologist with Northside Radiology in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Levy is recognized as a leader in the field, successfully growing Northside's interventional radiology practice and driving many clinical innovations forward such as bone tumor ablation, liver directed therapy and uterine fibroid embolizations. Dr. Levy discusses the evolving landscape of interventional radiology, emphasizing its dual nature of clinical expertise and business acumen, including the rise of office-based labs (OBLs). He highlights a growing division between diagnostic and interventional radiology, with interventional radiologists focusing on clinical presence while diagnostic radiologists prioritize metrics and efficiency. Dr. Levy addresses economic challenges and the importance of clinical presence for negotiating with payers. He advocates for improved procedural training for diagnostic radiologists and emphasizes continuous learning and networking for staying updated in the field. Dr. Levy advises new graduates to seek practices supporting growth and clinical engagement, stressing the value of networking for shared learning and success in radiology. #IReadForYou by Irene Bargellini 📚 A new professional figure is on the way? Interventional radiology has an increasing role in managing bleedings, also in hemodynamically unstable patients. These two papers discuss challenges and opportunities of integrating an “Interventional Radiology Resuscitationist” as an active member of the trauma team, to be readily available in an hybrid resuscitation room and manage life-threating major bleedings by means of minimally invasive approaches. 1️⃣https://lnkd.in/d-XhK4CY 2️⃣https://lnkd.in/dDdFX9ri

📢 Are you going to #ECR2024? Don't miss this incredible opportunity to do some cvi42 hands on sessions and join the ECR workshops! In collaboration with #Siemenshealthineers. Register here before it gets fully booked! Cardiac MRi and CT Hands-on Workshops - ESR | European Society of Radiology (myesr.org) General information: The aim of the Cardiac CT and MRI hands-on workshop is to provide advanced information (ETC II+III) about the most relevant topics in cardiac imaging like myocardial ischaemia, cardiomyopathy and inflammatory diseases of the myocardium and pericardium. Participants will learn how to report CT and MRI exams in different clinical settings, acquiring specific skills to be used in clinical practice. Participants will work on typical and atypical clinical cases reflecting the most frequent diseases in a clinical routine. According to the topic, mainly CT and MRI cases will be added with the support of other modalities like nuclear medicine, ultrasound and angiography. Participants will also approach the use of specific reporting systems like CAD-Rads for coronary artery and specific structured reports for other diseases. The workshop will be interactive since participants will be asked to report the exams, and reports will be discussed with the faculty. Anne HUI SZE KWONG

Interventional Radiology at Philipps-Universität Marburg A most recent analysis of the DeGIR database proves interventional radiology procedures to be safe and effective for treating mesenteric ischemia. The standard of care that has been achieved by German IR´s even exceeds recommendations from international IR societies. Thanks to the Marburg IR team for performing this interesting analysis. Appropriateness criteria helps to ensure examinations are justified and will impact management. In the process of ensuring only the most appropriate investigation /examination is done for a specific clinical scenario, we ensure we answer the clinical question. By avoiding unnecessary and inappropriate investigations we manage healthcare costs (for payors - whether patients themselves or government and others), and contribute to sustainability (by reducing the carbon footprint of healthcare).
ACR Appropriateness Criteria helps your practice take quality care to the next level with 239 diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology topics with more than 1,200 clinical variants covering 3,900 clinical scenarios. Our latest update includes 6 new topics and 6 revisions. 📣 ➡️ https://bit.ly/49ppzRX
