Our sincere congratulations to Daron Acemoglu on being awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics, an honor he shares with his esteemed colleagues, Prof. Simon Johnson and Prof. James A. Robinson. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Max Schmidheiny Foundation for their invaluable partnership, especially in supporting us with the selection of outstanding speakers who enrich the St. Gallen Symposium. Together, we are dedicated to fostering impactful dialogue and innovation, and we look forward to reaching the next milestones through our continued collaboration.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Daron Acemoglu on his recognition as the recipient of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics, awarded alongside his colleagues, Prof. Simon Johnson and Prof. James A. Robinson. This momentous occasion prompts us to look back with fond memories on Professor Acemoglu's remarkable contribution as the Max Schmidheiny Lecturer at the 45th St. Gallen Symposium, where he spoke on “Europe 70 Years After the End of World War II”. You can revisit his lecture here: https://bit.ly/3ClV98k On a lighter note, we are delighted to share that Professor Acemoglu is now the third distinguished guest invited by the Max Schmidheiny Foundation to the St. Gallen Symposium who has later received The Nobel Prize. The previous honorees to achieve this recognition were Muhammad Yunus and Mario Vargas Llosa, both recipients of the Max Schmidheiny Freedom Prize, in 1995 and 1988 respectively. The St. Gallen Symposium seems to be an auspicious stage, if we may say so!
