HEALTH is one of the fundamental values of The Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation and is defined as “the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit” by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Our commitment to health is built into our mission statement: To change the way cancer is treated and reduce cancer-patient suffering by providing care that is accessible, affordable and effective. Cancer tries to attack our mental, physical, and spiritual health but we fight back. This fight is personal for us, starting with our founder Dr. Hadiyah Green who lost her parents to cancer. Their suffering from cancer and cancer treatments inspired her to design a cancer-killing technology to improve health: Laser-Activated Nano-Therapy (LANT). LANT completely eliminates human tumors in laboratory mice after one 10-minute treatment in just 15 days, without observable side effects, surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. Limited by funding, not technological advancements, we are ready to move LANT into humans. When you support The Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation your donations will support our commitment to health by funding LANT human clinical trials. Every $1 counts! 🙏🏾Join our journey 👉🏾Donate: OraLee.org 👉🏾Text ORA to 71777 👉🏾CashApp/Venmo -- OraLeeFoundation 👉🏾Donate your birthday on Facebook #health #oralee #drhadiyahgreen #cancersucks #cancerawareness #breastcancerawareness #cancerresearch #tech #supportblackcharities #supportblackownedbusinesses #girlboss #stem #science #blackgirlsrock #blackentrepreneurs #blackexcellence #blackownedbusiness #blackowned #blackbusiness #blackentrepreneurs #blackgirlmagic #blacklivesmatter #buyblack #supportblackbusiness

Today we would like to take a moment to share a letter from our President, Jamie Brickell, as we honor Jeffrey Johnson’s memory and the importance of early detection: https://lnkd.in/eBJ-YyhR In March 2020, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Thanks to early detection and brilliant doctors, I’ve been cancer-free since July 2020. My surgeon, Dr. Diane M. Simeone, introduced me to the PRECEDE Consortium and TrovaNow, organizations dedicated to early detection of pancreatic cancer. My firm, Pryor Cashman, provided pro bono legal services, and my friend and law partner, Jeffrey Johnson, played a crucial role. Jeffrey became a key member of the TrovaNow Board of Directors. Tragically, as he dedicated himself to this cause, he was also diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Despite his own battle, he continued to support PRECEDE and TrovaNow, strengthening connections between doctors and volunteers. Everyone loved working with Jeffrey, not only because he was smart, insightful and creative, but also because he was always upbeat and positive, just an absolute pleasure to be with. A few months ago, Jeffrey’s health took a turn for the worse, and he needed to undergo more chemo treatments and a number of sessions of radiation. Despite this, Jeffrey never stopped helping other people, devoting whatever time and energy he could to help the cause. Sadly, he passed away on July 7, 2024, at 65, surrounded by his loving family. As we ramp up our fundraising effort for PRECEDE and TrovaNow in the weeks and months ahead, we wish to pay tribute to our dear friend and esteemed colleague, Jeffrey Johnson. And as we mourn his passing, we think about the importance of early testing and how it could have made a difference in his life. Please give as much as you can to support our organization. Please do it in Jeff’s honor, or in honor of any other friend or loved one who faces this horrible disease: www.trovanow.com #trovanow #precede #pancreaticcancer #pancreas #cancer #cancerresearch #cancerawareness #knowthesymptoms #findacure #survivor #health #awareness #earlydetection

Highlighting personal stories like @Sarah Dawson's is an impactful way to support employers and employees affected by cancer. To incorporate this approach into your workplace well-being strategy, consider these tips: 1. Raise Awareness: Organize regular informational sessions and workshops to educate employees about different types of cancer and the importance of early detection. 2. Support Caregivers: Provide resources and flexibility for employees who are caregivers, ensuring they have the support needed to balance work and caregiving responsibilities. 3. Create a Support Network: Establish support groups within the workplace where employees can share their experiences and advice. Our Tree of Life employee vitality and cancer defense program aligns with this by offering comprehensive support at every phase—diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, caregiving, and preventative care. This holistic approach ensures employees feel supported throughout their journey, improving their overall quality of life. Working With Cancer, your dedication to sharing such personal and powerful stories is commendable. Thank you for shedding light on the challenges faced by cancer patients and their caregivers. “Employers that provide robust cancer support programs see a significant increase in employee well-being and productivity” (TOL Go to Market Plan - Providers). Let's continue to make a positive impact together. Barbara Wilson
July is sarcoma awareness month. Over the past 40 years, the prognosis for the UK’s sarcoma patients has had very little change and late diagnosis is a key factor. Working With Cancer's coach Sarah Dawson has shared her very personal experience with Barbara Wilson. You can hear Sarah talk about caring for her teenage son following his terminal sarcoma diagnosis and how as a carer knowing how to best support someone can present many different challenges. You can listen to the whole interview with Sarah on our website by clicking on the link below. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eT9xexjU #WorkingwithCancer #Equalityact #Carers #SarcomaAwarenessMonth
