Celebrating OT week! We are so proud that our governing body RCOT support sensory integration as evidence based practice! Will still hear people, especially professionals saying Sensory isn't enforced by RCOT. Actually, it is! The evidence is thriving! We love Occupational therapy as a profession! #occupationaltherapyweek #occupationaltherapy #sensoryintegration #ot4me

Adjoa Andoh’s recent comments on the need for occupational therapists (OTs) in every school resonate deeply. As she rightly points out, occupational therapy isn't just a specialised service for children with disabilities—it's a transformative support system that benefits all children, allowing them to reach their fullest potential. Occupational therapists in schools play a unique role in helping children thrive. They work not only on physical skills like fine motor development but also on emotional regulation, social skills, and sensory processing. These areas are critical for a child’s overall success and well-being but are often overlooked in traditional educational models. By embedding OTs within school systems, we give every child the chance to develop essential life skills, regardless of their starting point. Andoh’s advocacy reflects the core value that every child matters. When we talk about inclusive education, we need to ensure every child, not just those who are easily “mainstreamed,” receives the support they need to flourish. OTs can adapt learning environments to individual needs, making classrooms more accessible and enriching for all students. Imagine a school where every child feels understood, where their unique challenges are met with individualised strategies that help them grow, learn, and feel included. That’s the power of occupational therapy in education. It’s a commitment to inclusivity, not just in words but in everyday practice. Let's advocate for the integration of occupational therapy into every school, so we can truly say we are building a system where every child matters and every child thrives.
