Our very first moves have been a resounding success! The HomeSafe Connect-GO app streamlined the entire process for the service provider from beginning to end. We appreciate Joyce Van Lines for the excellent job they did on all aspects of the move, and we can officially say the first missions of many are complete! Joyce Van Lines COO William Joyce Jr. spoke about their participation in our historic first moves and how he felt about the modernization of moving. “Being able to be one of the first people to sign on with HomeSafe and help them succeed, it lets me help bring moving into a modern era,” said Joyce, Jr. “There should be [an] electronic inventory; we should be getting things set with 2024 standards rather than 2000 and below standards. It gives us a lot of opportunities, mainly to modernize the moving industry, [and] to disrupt things in a way that we could see a future where independent haulers have much greater strength to succeed.” ---- #PCS #Relocation #USMilitary #ArmedForces #GHC #GlobalHouseholdGoodsContract #Moving #HomeSafe #MilitaryFamily #Launch

Lessons from the infantry I injured myself this weekend as I attempted to take down a tree with all the enthusiasm of Paul Bunyan. Welcome to 40. As many of you know, the life of an infantryman is grueling. The constant strain on our bodies from carrying heavy loads, enduring harsh climates, and the relentless ops tempo take a toll. Even years after leaving the service, the effects of that demanding life persist. One can only consume so much Motrin and water. When I was in the 101st, my 38-year-old platoon sergeant looked and moved like he was 70 years old. That's what 20 years in the infantry does to the human body. It's a physical job. And that was my first hint that maybe I should move on while I still had my mobility. But today, I still find joy in physical labor - tackling my own landscaping and mowing, moving my own furniture, etc. This feeling of accomplishing physical work keeps me grounded and connected to my roots, and it's refreshing in a career where I create digital work. Also, I refuse to pay someone to do something that I enjoy doing myself. So here's some unsolicited advice, especially for my aging Post 9/11 veterans: Get that cardio in for a long life. Work in resistance for a high quality of life. And get a solid 7+ hours of sleep to keep your mind sharp. For veterans, staying in shape isn’t just about looking good; it’s about preserving our quality of life, managing pain, and keeping our wits - or at least half of it. I encourage my fellow veterans to keep moving. Whether it’s a walk, a workout, or tackling a home project, find something that keeps you active. Just make sure you're in tune with your body when it's telling you to ease up. And leave the tree removal to the experts. Let’s show the world that our grit and determination don’t fade with age. #Veterans #StayActive #InfantryStrong #FitnessOver40 #VeteranHealth #KeepMoving *Pictured: Me holding our homemade squad guidon while on QRF guarding a Patriot missile battery on the Iraq border. Phew, been a while since I got back into Trailhead! It took me about 30 minutes to get this done. Reminder for you to hop back in and get your maintenance badge 😁 It went over report types, inactive picklist, process migrating to flow and dynamic forms! Beards are now allowed in the Army! 😳. My thoughts? Although my opinion means nothing 😂 To be fair I think it’s a good thing, got to move with the times. There are still regulations on how to wear the beard but it’s still a move forward. RAF have had beards with no issues for years now. The old and bold will always shout standards! Beards have no direct reflection on how an individual performs and for me that’s the main thing. There are people failing basic fitness test and people are having a meltdown over beards. Making a soldier deployable and able to conduct their role seems a more key factor for me. 16000 soldiers in 2019 were non deployable. That’s around 22 percent. That’s shocking. I think beards is a great move forward with times. Well done. Next? I have my thoughts what yours? Reducing wages when contractual obligations are not met such as annual tests? 😳 🤷♂️

Keeping Top #experienced and #motivated person Engaged During #Workforce Reductions. About 1400 years ago, there was a #real story of a military troop of 10,000 soldiers who faced the🏋️ daunting task of crossing an #impossible desert which can lead to their Death. One #expert stepped up and said he needed 20 old but 💚healthy #camels🐪. The lives of the 10,000 soldiers depended on this #expert and those camels🐪. With proper preparation, they moved forward and #successfully crossed the desert. This #real story 📝teaches us a vital lesson: the #expertise and #experience🌍 of both #people and animals play a significant role in overcoming tough #challenges. Similarly, in any #organization, having at least minimum level of experienced and🏋️ motivated people in every #department is #crucial. These individuals #help guide the #team🎯 through difficult 🧗situations, ensuring the organization achieves its #goals📈. During times of #downsizing,🤕 it's essential to retain and motivate these #experienced 🌿individuals. Their #knowledge and drive can turn #impossible #situations into remarkable #successes🥇, leading the organization 🎯through difficult #times and towards a🎖️ brighter future. #Believe in the #power of #experience and motivation—they can turn #impossible situations into remarkable #successes.

Veteran's Day. Armistice Day. Most of the emails I have this morning are marketing discounts. The discounts just don't matter. Don't get me wrong, I love that Applebees and others continue to honor our Veterans in this way. What do the Veterans in your life need today? Safety, kindness, empathy, love, brothers\sisters, quality healthcare. And a job. A career to continue to providing for their spouses, children, parents, grandparents, siblings, community, etc. Employers. What type of person does it take to train, fight, lead soldiers, and survive invading and occupying a foreign country? Right, wrong, or indifferent, our views on war are variable. What isn't variable is the training these soldiers endure. What isn't variable is the dedication you get when supporting a Veteran in their career. Soldiers will give you everything until they bleed themselves dry. How many Veterans are out there unemployed like me today, simply begging for the chance to use our incredible skills and experiences for employers that understand their highest performers just might also need a little extra care and support. #veterans #oif #oef #unemployed #opentowork #veteransday #army

*Spoiler Alert* If you haven't yet watched the final of the rebooted series of Gladiators, scroll on past this post until you have. For those that have watched it, you'll be aware that the winner for the men was British Army Major Finlay Anderson. He gives a fascinating insight into how his training and work in the military was a key component in his success in the competition. But it wasn't simply down to assault courses and weighted marches. Finlay highlights the mental resilience that the Forces can help you develop that helped him to push on, when his body was shouting "f*** no!" This resilience can be a hugely useful asset in your future employees as well, helping them to navigate the constantly changing and unpredictable environment that we all operate in. If you'd like to better #RecruitArmedForces into your team, let me know. Whether it's a one off, or a longer-term strategic objective, my team and I can help you to become a Forces-friendly employer, so you can capitalise on these uniquely experienced, widely skilled and highly trained future employees. #ArmedForces #Recruitment https://lnkd.in/erM9bB39

One of the best insults I ever received? "You'd make a terrible infantry officer." Let me explain. Years ago, I took over as our unit's executive officer (XO). The outgoing XO was an infantry officer, and I was an aviation officer. Right away, you can probably imagine the potential for friction. Infantry Marines tend to be serious and by-the-book. Pilots? Well… not so much. During our turnover, he was showing me the ropes, rattling off instructions like, "This needs to be done this way," and "That needs to be done that way." And each time, I dared to ask, "Why?" After about fifteen minutes of this, he snapped. "YOU'D MAKE A TERRIBLE INFANTRY OFFICER!!" I didn't miss a beat. I swung at the underhand pitch he just lobbed my way and asked... "Why?" "THAT'S WHY!!" he fired back. Home run. Ball over the center-field wall. I had to laugh. But then he followed up with this: "You ask too many questions! When I tell you to take the hill, take the hill. No questions asked. Just do it!" Now, I respect where he was coming from. There are moments - rare moments - when the mission demands immediate, unquestioning action. No time for debate. No room for questions. But sitting together in that office that night? That wasn't one of those moments. And I'd wager most of what you face in work and life isn't either. Here's the thing: It's okay to ask "why." In fact, it's good to ask "why." Taking care of mavericks and looking out for the questioners isn't just nice - it's necessary. Mavericks help you see what's possible. Questioners help you see what you might be missing. They're often the ones in touch with their creative, right-brain thinking, and they're looking to share it. So don't squash it. Embrace it. And here's a bonus tip: One of the easiest ways to tap into that creative energy - yours and theirs -is through humor. Humor helps people loosen up, think differently, and approach challenges from a fresh perspective. So next time someone throws you an "out there" idea, ask "Why?" But don't stop there - crack a joke, lighten the mood, and see what brilliant insight comes next. Because sometimes, the difference between "terrible" and "terrific" lies in the questions we're bold enough to ask - and the laughs we're willing to share.
