Nate Hudson was just two years old when he was first diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. Since then, he has overcome many challenges through treatments, relapse, and a secondary diagnosis - but thankfully, he is cancer-free today. Nate’s mother, Antonia reflects: “It isn’t possible to list all the ways that cancer and treatment changed Nate and all of our lives as a family.” Her advice to others supporting a child during their cancer journey is: “Navigating your child through cancer treatment is hard, everything is new, and you have to make impossible decisions. It is okay to ask for help, to give yourself a moment, and to celebrate even the smallest of wins.” Antonia is not only a caregiver to her son, but also an advocate with the #StandUpToCancer Pediatric Dream Team. In fact, her entire family is involved in cancer research advocacy. “We have too many childhood cancers with unacceptable cure rates – and this is why SU2C is so important, to push science forward,” says Antonia. “Seeing Nate go through cancer treatment changed everything. It is our turn to give back and support the families who will unfortunately be diagnosed in the future. We must do better for children with cancer so that they can live long and healthy lives.” The Palmer-Hudson family “stands up to cancer for Nate and all children diagnosed with this terrible disease.” This #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth, share who you stand up for. 🧡
Fantastic to see your well deserved recognition Antonia Palmer. Thank you for everything you continue to do for children and their families!
