If you're not embarrassed, you're shipping too late, right? 😅 === I feel that product management has largely lost its way. It’s crumbling under the weight of hand-wavy frameworks that only help the people who sell them. Product Science is my new project and an attempt to re-focus the conversation on the aspects of Product that are grounded in math, psychology, and social sciences. In other words, something a little more tangible than the "self-help"-esque product content out there. The result is a multi-part, evergreen email course which I can write just once and then update based on feedback. (This way, I get to share my knowledge and ideas without the pressure to pump out content on a schedule, which is something I'm hilariously bad at) The first part is called Probabilistic Product Management. In it, I talk about: • Why products fail and how to deal with it • How to apply probabilistic thinking to roadmaps • Decreasing strategy risk via discovery and user research • Making better bets with probabilistic strategy Go check it out at productscience[.]academy

It is 2024 and I am yet to find any Product Management Certification in Indian landscape which gives good ROI. For instance spending 50k- 2 Lakh just for the Product managemt basics, case studies and "exposure" still does not make sense to me. It is all available Free today. I am looking for inputs or suggestions from people who have participated in such certifications who have gained value, feel free to comment and let me know your experience. DMs are also fine if you think you do not want to comment publicly. P.S: I am okay with the hate I get for writing this, I am a PM have too thick skin for all this. I am thrilled to share that I have successfully completed the "Product Management" course offered by Great Learning Academy. This comprehensive program has provided me with invaluable insights and a solid foundation in product management, equipping me with the skills necessary to navigate and excel in this dynamic field. Throughout the course, I gained a deep understanding of various critical aspects of product management, including: Benefits of Product Management Product Life Cycle Marketing Mix - The 4 Ps Product Design Product Innovation The Role of a Product Manager Lean in Manufacturing The section on Lean in Manufacturing was particularly enlightening as it was my first exposure to this methodology. I learned about key lean methods such as Poka-yoke, Just In Time (JIT), Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, and Six Sigma. Understanding these concepts has broadened my perspective on efficiency and continuous improvement, which are crucial in product development and management. #ProductManagement #Marketigmix #Innovation #UserExperience #LeanManufacturing #Kaizen #SixSigma

Let’s be honest, Product Management can sometimes be very boring. • Analysing feedback to understand why a feature is unused. • Sifting through data to uncover decision-driving patterns. • Re-explaining feature decisions in countless meetings. • Jumping on unnecessary calls (for whatever reason). • Scrolling through competitor websites for analysis. But here is what I've realised: this is what seperates the good PMs from the very good ones. Good PMs might get stuck in these tasks. Very good PMs see these tasks as opportunities to better understand and improve their product. Lesson learned: even the most boring tasks can lead to golden opportunities for your product.

Hi all it's my pleasure to share with you that I have completed my certification in introduction to product management by IBM. Here are a few thoughts on why it could be useful and how to approach it: 1. Structured Learning Certifications provide a structured approach to understanding the product lifecycle, from idea generation to launch and beyond. They offer a well-defined framework that can help you master critical product management concepts like: Market research Customer discovery Roadmap planning Metrics and data-driven decision making 2. Skill Enhancement Whether you are new to product management or looking to advance your career, certifications can sharpen your skills. Most programs focus on the practical application of product management tools, such as user research techniques, MVP (Minimum Viable Product) strategies, and agile methodologies, which can make you more effective in the role. 3. Industry Recognition A certification from a reputable institution (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, Product School, General Assembly) can signal to employers that you have a solid foundation in product management. While experience is essential, a certification adds credibility, especially if you’re transitioning into product management from a different field. 4. Networking Opportunities Many certification programs have vibrant communities of alumni and product professionals. Networking with fellow learners, instructors, and industry experts can provide career opportunities, mentorship, and insights into best practices across industries. 5. Cross-Functional Knowledge A good product manager needs to collaborate effectively across engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams. Certification programs often include modules on leadership, communication, and negotiation, which are crucial for managing cross-functional teams. 6. Targeting Specific Skills If you're working in a niche like AI, data-driven products, or SaaS, there are specialized certifications that focus on the unique aspects of these product categories, helping you tailor your expertise to market needs. 7. Complementing Real-World Experience While certifications can enhance your knowledge and credentials, they should ideally be combined with real-world experience. Practical exposure to handling product launches, managing stakeholder expectations, and adapting to market changes is irreplaceable.
