📝 How to Cite a Physical Location or Event in MLA Style 🌍 Did you know you can cite real-world places and events in MLA format too? Whether it’s a historic site, an art exhibit, or a concert, MLA has you covered! Here's how to do it: Format: Description or Title of Event. Title of Container, Date of Event, Location. 👉 Example: Van Gogh Art Exhibit. The Met Museum, 10 Aug. 2024, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. Keep in mind: Use italics for the container (e.g., museum, venue). Include the full date and location details. 🎯 Pro Tip: If it’s part of a larger event, include that in your citation as the container! #MLAStyle #CitingSources #AcademicTips #MLAFormat

You should have a policy on cataloguing. This could either be a standalone document or part of a wider collections management policy. Either way, in deciding your policy you will need to consider this question: "How will you identify contemporary or historic bias within the museum's cataloguing practice?" 🔗 https://buff.ly/3SHILoW #PrimaryProcedures #MuseumDocumentation #Museums

As a curator, you play a pivotal role in promoting an Art and the Artist. The Exhibition is a space that enables you to increase the relevance of every collection and help you create a connection between the Art and the viewer. One needs to have an understanding of the thematic concerns of every piece of Art exhibited, this helps you to be able to communicate the value of every piece to the audience. Nevertheless you need to consider and note down some key things you have to do to ensure the success of the Exhibition; *Marketing/publicity *Design/Exhibition space *selection and Assemblage of Works etc Being in a space of Colours is irresistible. #curator #artexhibition #contemporaryart

Choosing which objects make the final cut for the boat gallery is much easier thanks to the addition of digital interactive stations. National Museum of Ireland Curator Noel Campbell has shared new images of artefacts that could be featured on the upcoming gallery’s digital screens. These screens allow us to showcase objects and stories that would otherwise be limited by the physical space of the gallery. Learn more about the project here. https://lnkd.in/ePxfAt_y #MaritimeHistory #MuseumBlog #NMIBlog

My latest article for #TheArtNewspaper on a play by activist investors to shutter a museum and potentially liquidate its collection all in the name of better shareholder returns. It may looks like an art museum but through the eyes of Hong Kong-based #OasisManagement the Kawamura Memorial Museum of Art, which houses one of the most impressive collections of 20th Century Western art in Japan and one of only four #RothkoRooms in the world (along with Contemporary Japanese art), is little more than an underperforming capital asset that needs to be sold off and downsized or shut down. As part of this move the museum's entire collection has been listed with a book value thatis far below the amount the museum sold a single work by Barnett Newman in 2013 ... Known as #vultureinvestors, #OasisManagement has a track record of upending companies and ousting board members and CEOs to get their way. Despite the mayor of Sakura City and the Governor of Chiba prefecture publilcy putting their support behind a petition it was up to a concerned local to start one - if you inclined here's the link ->https://chng.it/8gmYtmRmSn #profitsoverpeople #corporatesocialresponsibility
The Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum Art, operated by the chemical manufacturer DIC and home to one of world's only four Rothko rooms, may have to downsize or close for good https://ow.ly/e6bF50Teznh

Object exit - recording when objects leave the buildings you are responsible for and pass out of your direct care. ✍️ You should have a policy covering the exit of objects from your buildings. This could either be a standalone document or part of a wider collections management policy. Either way, in deciding your policy you will need to consider five questions, this is the second one: "Who can authorise objects leaving the museum in each of these circumstances?" This refers back to the first question, which is: "In what circumstances might objects leave the museum?" 🔗 https://buff.ly/3RZEIDo #PrimaryProcedures #Museums
