History is supposed to be shared and studied, not hidden and erased. Continue supporting libraries, archives, and museums, especially local organizations/institutions and those that contribute to digitization initiatives (i.e. HathiTrust, Internet Archive). These entities help in preserving history as it is, so we can learn and grow from the past. https://lnkd.in/eWvwYp7t

Take a look at this article to check out some ways to ensure the safety of your records! (Or, if this is too complex for you, consider digitizing and then giving the records to the archives, a local museum or library, or your local historical society!!) #historicalrecords #recordsmanagement

Great article on the power of objects and the importance of capturing their stories & provenance.
📢 New on the blog Helen Shepherd (PR and Marketing Coordinator, National Emergency Services Museum) discusses how obtaining oral histories at point of acquisition can enrich collections information and bring objects to life. ‘By hearing from a real person about their life and experiences, it can promote a new understanding of our collection, and help us tell stories from a different and dynamic viewpoint,’ says Helen. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/euY6eSkk #Museums #Blog #MuseumDocumentation
