Our fourth and final presenting portfolio company at our Innovation Showcase is Emm, the start-up whose mission is to empower individuals to change their quality of life by inherently understanding their health through technology and specialist knowledge. Less than 2.5% of publicly funded research is dedicated solely to reproductive health, yet 1 in 3 women will suffer from a reproductive or gynaecological health problem. Clinical baseline data is key for tracking reproductive health, but neither consumers nor clinicians have the tools to accurately measure this. Founded by CEO, Jenny Button, Emm has built biometric technology to bring this data to the 1/3 of women with severe reproductive health symptoms. Their technology can monitor key metrics like volume, flow rate, cycle length and regularity to aid understanding of menstrual health. A recent study published in BMJ Sexual & Reproductive Health found that menstrual products often have different absorbency capacities than advertised when tested with real blood instead of saline solution. The absence of menstrual blood in research exacerbates women's health disparities and perpetuates gender inequity in healthcare. Heavy menstrual bleeding, a common concern among women, can be symptomatic of various underlying medical conditions. Not using menstrual blood for research leads to inadequate diagnostic criteria, potentially resulting in the underdiagnosis and undertreatment of serious illnesses in women. Women may suffer from delayed diagnoses, improper management of conditions, and reduced access to appropriate healthcare services. This disparity highlights broader systemic issues in medical research and healthcare delivery that overlook women's health needs. By prioritizing women's health equity in research practices, healthcare providers can improve early detection, treatment, and overall outcomes for women with menstrual-related health concerns. #diversity #equity #inclusion #womenshealth #genderequity Subha Pandian AGUA

The impact of social media testimonies and a greater systemic focus on women's health are helping drive a shift in how providers treat women's pain, especially for reproductive care. Other recent stories about the regularity with which women experience pain during routine care have brought attention to the issue with sometimes shocking details. #womenshealth #reproductivecare #health #pain #women https://lnkd.in/ePKXNjXi

Seen as women's health week is fast approaching 🎉 (YAY!) I thought I would explain what women's health means for me. As a young professional in her early 20s I would argue that women's health is not talked about enough! Growing up I found that in schools the information I was given about my health was very generic and didn't actually supply me with any helpful advice on menstrual wellbeing or other gynaecological problems. It felt abnormal to me to ask teachers or other people about what 'women's health' actually means for me as an individual. Looking back now I was not properly prepared for becoming an adult as I was unaware of the seriousness of my own health. I am lucky enough now to work for Cavendish Wellbeing 😍 which continues to provide me with all the helpful information I need to take care of myself, but not every young women has this luxury. So take that step today to talk to your families, friends and colleagues about women's health, and lets work together to ensure every women has the support and resources she needs to thrive. If you are an organisation based in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, be proactive in making your office a healthy workplace. 👩🏫 Get in contact with us or reach out to me on here and lets discuss how we, at Cavendish Wellbeing can help you! #womenshealthmatters #womenshealth #youngprofessionals #sheffieldbusiness #sheffieldissuper

Our new research on menstrual health and family planning: Calling for less siloed funding to better leverage the synergies between the different aspects of sexual and reproductive health, and create truly holistic healthcare services for women
Partner at Hystra - Inclusive Business Strategy / Business Model Innovation / Last-Mile Distribution / Private Sector Engagement
📢 New Hystra report on the link between family planning (FP) and menstrual health (MH), funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation! https://lnkd.in/ejRj8-Tj Given the strong biological and cultural interlinkages between FP and MH, researchers and practitioners increasingly call for the integration of interventions into more holistic Sexual and Reproductive Health programs (SRH). These should in theory improve health outcomes and delivery efficiency, by allowing MH products to piggyback on more established FP channels. Yet, very few projects have put this integration into practice and even fewer have documented their results, due to limited and siloed funding, as well as complex impact measurement across topics. This report assesses four different models of integration, in terms of improved effectiveness on SRH outcomes and improved cost-efficiency. While their impact potential is less straightforward than expected, we found 2 models with high potential: ✅ Providing combined MH and FP education which addresses an unmet need from menstruators, especially the younger ones, increases program acceptability and helps lower unintended pregnancies overall ✅ Developing holistic women SRH centers which attracts more patients and improves the overall SRH situation of local women, beyond what "pure" FP centers do. We look forward to hearing from you if you see an opportunity to collaborate on leveraging the synergies between family planning and menstrual health! ⁉️🤷♀️❓Are you assured that the medicine you were prescribed has been tested on someone like you? 🚻Initially it was assumed that there are no vital differences between men and women’s bodies except size, weight, and reproductive organs. 🧪🔬🧬𝐔𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. ❗❗European Institute of Women's Health, CLG says that “over the years, scientific knowledge has increasingly demonstrated that some treatments affect men and women differently. Women and men have different sex and gender related risks for developing certain conditions and responses to treatment. 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲“. Women are still generally under-represented in clinical trials. Had an amazing time at the Fortune Brainstorm Health event this week! Pamela Pure, CEO and co-founder of Posterity Health, spoke on a panel about the Posterity Health model and the importance of inclusive benefits, especially in relation to fertility. ❗ With 50% of infertility cases involving a male factor, it’s crucial to evaluate male partners at the beginning of the family planning journey. Through Posterity Health's model, we are seeing significant improvements in speed to conception, outcomes, and comprehensive care for both partners, addressing an outdated Family Building process that traditionally focuses only on women. Endometriosis affects ALL women, but Black and Hispanic communities often face delays in diagnosis and treatment. This #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth, let's raise awareness of these disparities. Here's why: -- Unconscious bias can lead healthcare providers to miss endometriosis in Black and Hispanic women. -- Systemic healthcare barriers make it harder for these communities to access timely diagnoses. These delays can cause immense pain, fertility issues, and a worsened quality of life. We can do better! Advocate for culturally competent care. Support organizations like @unchartedaccess (https://lnkd.in/dX2Ce-my) Uncharted Access is working to ensure ALL communities are represented in endometriosis research. #DiversityInTrials #EndoAwareness #HealthcareEquality #clinicalresearch #clinicaltrials #Healthcare #healthcareworkers

Women's health programs and interventions Women's health programs and interventions play a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of half the world's population. These initiatives not only focus on medical issues but also address the social, economic, and cultural formulas that women often face. Many countries have developed reproductive health care programs, promoting and ensuring access to contraceptive services, prenatal care, and antenatal care. Creative approaches to mental health and nutrition are also prioritized, addressing specific issues faced by women, such as postpartum depression and micronutrient deficiencies. Additionally, many programs emphasize the importance of sexual and reproductive health education, domestic violence prevention, and empowering women. These initiatives aim to build a safe and supportive environment for women, thereby improving their quality of life and providing equal opportunities. The development of women's health interventions requires the collaboration of governments, health organizations, and communities. Through these cooperative efforts, we can ensure that all women, regardless of their socioeconomic status, can access and promote comprehensive health care services.#GlobalHealthNews #HealthcareTrends #InternationalHealthcare #HealthcarePartners #PublicHealthOrganizations #GlobalHealthCollaboration #HealthPolicyAnalysis #GlobalHealthGovernance #EvidenceBasedPolicy #HealthTech #MedicalInnovation #DigitalHealth #AskTheExpert #HealthcareLeadership #MedicalExpertise #ComparativeHealthcare #GlobalHealthSystems #HealthcareModels WeeklyHealthRecap #GlobalHealthForecast #HealthcareFuture #strongbodyai #strongbody.ai #strongbody
