🚀 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐗 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲! 🚀 In a groundbreaking achievement, SpaceX engineers successfully “caught” the Super Heavy booster from the Starship launch vehicle after it separated from the ship. This is the first time a booster has landed back on the launch site rather than plunging into the ocean. 🌊 The booster was equipped with an extra engine, enabling a controlled descent back to the launch pad, where it was secured by massive “arms.” Unlike the Falcon 9 boosters, Super Heavy doesn’t have landing legs, so this innovative approach could significantly cut down on turnaround time between flights. Why is this significant? The reusable Super Heavy booster will not only save costs but also increase the frequency of launches—a crucial step for SpaceX’s larger missions, like Mars colonization and the Starlink satellite network. With a thrust of 74 MN, this booster is the most powerful to date, eclipsing NASA’s Space Launch System by nearly double! 💪 Starship is also vital to NASA’s Artemis program, aiming to return humans to the Moon by the decade’s end. It’s amazing to think about how these innovations are paving the way for space exploration and the next chapter of human adventure beyond Earth. 🌌 #SpaceX #Starship #SuperHeavy #SpaceExploration #Mars #NASA #Artemis #Innovation #SpaceTechnology

China Manned Space Agency unveils extravehicular lunar suit to be used in the country’s future crewed lunar landing missions. "China’s crewed landing plan is for two astronauts to make a short, roughly six-hour-duration stay on the lunar surface. However, the mission is part of a longer-term lunar exploration effort." "The country will send robotic missions to the lunar south pole in 2026 and 2028 for resource surveys and in-situ resource utilization tests as a precursor to a moon base. The International Lunar Research Station (ILRS) is to be built in the 2030s. It will eventually be capable of hosting short term human stays." https://lnkd.in/gJ5tDumz #china #spacetech #moonmission #chinatech #spacetechnology #nasa

"We Are Team Blue": Looking Ahead to 2025 | Blue Origin FriendsofNASA.org: At Blue Origin, "our genuine passion for space exploration is reflected in our work. We are looking for individuals who share this passion and wish to turn their careers into a calling. Together, we are shaping the future of space, and we seek dedicated and inspired people to join us." Blue Origin's advanced heavy-lift vehicle, the New Glenn Rocket, will support NASA Artemis Moon Missions. NASA Selects Blue Origin as Second Artemis Lunar Lander Provider https://lnkd.in/gnMwFrj2 New Glenn is named after former NASA astronaut John Glenn, the first American to orbit Earth. The rocket stands more than 320 feet (98 meters) high—roughly the height of a 30-story building—and features a seven-meter payload fairing, enabling twice the volume of standard five-meter class commercial launch systems. The fairing is large enough to hold three school buses. Its reusable first stage aims for a minimum of 25 missions and will land on a sea-based platform located roughly 620 miles (1,000 km) downrange. Reusability is integral to radically reducing cost-per-launch. The vehicle is powered by seven of Blue Origin’s BE-4 engines, the most powerful liquid oxygen (LOX)/liquefied natural gas (LNG) engine developed since Saturn V’s F1 engines. LNG is cleaner-burning and higher-performing than kerosene-based fuels. Blue Origin has several New Glenn vehicles in production and a full customer manifest. Customers include NASA, Project Kuiper, Telesat, and Eutelsat, among others. 🚀🌕 I look forward to exploring the moon's hidden depths: Lunar Pits and Caves! 🌑 I'm thrilled to be diving into the fascinating world of lunar pits and caves! These underground formations on the Moon could hold incredible potential for future space exploration and even human settlement. Lunar pits are openings into underground caves or lava tubes, providing natural protection from the harsh environment on the lunar surface—offering shelter from extreme temperatures, cosmic radiation, and meteor impacts. 🌌 They could also serve as key locations for future habitats and scientific outposts. Understanding these structures brings us one step closer to sustainable exploration beyond Earth. The possibility of leveraging the Moon’s natural resources is inspiring, and I’m excited to continue learning and engaging with this emerging field! #LunarExploration #SpaceInnovation #MoonMissions #FutureOfSpace #STEM #SpaceScience #LSPACE #NASA

A Bit of Where are we Going in Space and Why? Part 8 of 8 Due to the risky nature of #spaceresources utilization, governments will continue to lead in these efforts until risk has sufficiently lowered to allow commercial actors a reasonable chance at success. As we have seen in this series, state-sponsored agencies like #NASA, #ESA, #ISRO, #JAXA, #CNAS, and #Roscosmos continue to transition these risks to private-sector entities. The #Artemis program is the most substantial attempt to bring these efforts together through #multinational cooperation (https://lnkd.in/g6yfnuhJ). This material resource utilization campaign will begin with #lunarice to develop #oxygen and #hydrogen for a #rocket fuel distribution architecture. Over time, oxygen will be extracted from #regolith, and a human presence will drive the need for water and more oxygen—and other resources. #Nitrogen, anyone? A well-established #cislunar economy will pave the way for material resource utilization on Mars, but for the near future, Martin resources—due to the challenges of producing a return on investment—will remain the province of government-funded efforts. However, recent events have demonstrated the partnership with private companies like #IntuitiveMachines, #SpaceX, #BlueOrigin, #LunarOutpost, #VenturiAstrolabs, #HoneybeeRobotics. Construction of #infrastructure in space will be crucial to these efforts. While programs like the #ISS have paved the way, future efforts for on-orbit servicing and manufacturing (https://lnkd.in/gYqVHvuQ) are expanding. More on #OSAM in the next series. #ISRU, #NewSpace, #Redwater, #lunar, #Russia, #China, #India, #Japan, #Monaco

🌕 The Blue #Supermoon! 🌕 Last night, I went outside to view and photograph the #moon. As someone working in the #space industry, I look at the moon thinking about the history and our exciting future in lunar exploration. 🌙 There have been over 77 successful lunar missions since the start of the space age in the 1950s. These missions span from satellites orbiting the moon, to lunar rovers and human landings. 🚀 Some years ago, I worked for a company that was building a #spacecraft to go to the moon. We developed a propulsion system based on water, since the moon contains ice! 🧊 Through this, I learned a lot about lunar missions and the complexities of them. Which made me even more impressed about the #Apollo missions 50+ years ago!! In the near future, we will see more robotic and crewed missions. 🧑🚀 Next year, #NASA’s #Artemis II will take flight. The first crewed mission to the moon since 1972!! - - - - - “Blue Moon” means that we see a full moon twice in a month. “Supermoon” means that the moon is closer to #Earth. The next combination of these - “seasonal blue supermoon” - will occur in 2032.
