Almaty, Kazakhstan The 21st meeting of the Kazakh-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, co-chaired by Prime Ministers Olzhas Bektenov and Abdulla Aripov, concluded with plans to deepen economic collaboration between the two nations. Discussions held ahead of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s upcoming visit to Kazakhstan focused on a wide array of sectors, including trade, investment, energy, transport, and digitization. Highlights from the meeting revealed that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan jointly represent 57% of Central Asia’s total trade. Trade turnover between the countries reached $4.5 billion last year, with figures exceeding $1.2 billion in the first four months of 2024 alone. #Iraq, #Tunis continue to enhance joint cooperation The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and his Tunisian counterpart, Kamal Madouri, reaffirmed on Wednesday the ongoing efforts to strengthen mutual cooperation and expand its mechanisms. During a joint press conference with Madouri in the Tunisian capital, which followed lengthy discussions between the two countries’ delegations, Al-Sudani stated that his official invitation-driven visit to Tunisia is a significant step toward fortifying bilateral ties between Tunisia and Iraq, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The visit comes three months following the gathering of the joint Iraqi-Tunisian committee in Baghdad, where significant agreements were made across different sectors, according to Al-Sudani. The Iraqi Prime Minister explained that during the visit, agreements related to oil, industry, trade, banking, finance, culture, sports, science, and tourism were made. Al-Sudani hailed the decisions made to facilitate the movement of tourists and businessmen between the two countries. According to Al-Sudani, Iraq offers more opportunities and investments in a variety of sectors. The Iraqi Prime Minister also cited the desire of the Iraqi private sector to invest in Tunisia as evidence that mutual investment integration is guaranteed and that improving trade exchange will be a necessary step toward reaching the intended level of economic integration between the two countries.
