Thank you Allison Snowden and Nora Binder for inviting me to open this years Mentoring program at Webster Vienna Private University. It's inspiring to see dedicated alumni supporting students as they navigate life post-university. Connecting theory and practice is essential across all levels of education—from 15-year-olds considering apprenticeships to high school students choosing a university, to graduates exploring career paths. Mentoring goes beyond professional growth, addressing personal development issues like imposter syndrome, self-confidence, decision-making, and handling challenging situations, such as setting boundaries or confronting social injustices. Webster's Mentoring motto: "Dare to grow together" also highlights the importance of reverse mentoring and how learning and development is a two way street whereby students can also inspire and educate Mentors! #Mentoring #Reversementoring #Education #CareerDevelopment #PersonalGrowth #EPICmodel #WebsterVienna #AlumniEngagement #Empowerment

What does this look like for you? For me, it's to meet feelings of confusion with compassion, ego with humility, and intimidation with empowerment. Create a space where fails are reframed as wins, where "no" doesn't exist, and all ideas are welcome. Proclaim your ignorance. Be resourceful. Own your actions. Lead with kindness. Rely on humor.

"Be the senior you wanted to have when you were a junior." Be the leader who lifts others up, who shares their wisdom, and who empowers those around them. Be the mentor who offers guidance and support, who celebrates successes, and who helps others grow. Be the role model who inspires confidence, who demonstrates kindness, and who shows up with authenticity and compassion. When you were an intern, you hoped for a senior who would notice you, who would challenge you, and who would believe in you. Be that senior. Offer leaderships that matter, that teach and that transform. Provide leadership that is constructive, specific and kind. Be approachable, be available and be invested. Remember, the seniors you looked up to were once interns too. They understand the uncertainty, the doubts and the dreams that you have. Be the senior who pays it forward, who lifts the ladder and who shows others that they too can make it happen." #intern #hiring #motivation #inspired #inspire #vacancy #peculiarGomo

I can relate! I’d have been happy to have a mentor or role model to guide me. However, I had to create my own path and let my core values guide me. This way, you can actually bring your unique perspective and atmosphere to any situation. It's great that there are so many mentorship opportunities available now, free and paid. I mentor others because I believe the world needs more qualified and conscious marketers and brand experts. I also seek help and outside perspectives when I need them. I encourage everyone to use these resources to grow and develop their skills, and what’s more important, the right mindset and vision. I think seniors should always be aware of their responsibility to set a positive example of leadership for their teams - not by words or motivational posts, but by real deeds, brave and smart decisions, and accomplishments that the entire team can be proud of. #leadership #teamleadership #mentorship

Engineering is a dream for some, a necessity for others. But one thing that truly shapes this journey is the environment created by your seniors. They guide you, help you find your path, and support you through every challenge. Sadly, we were the first batch of a new branch at a newly autonomous college. We had no seniors to turn to. Although other branches had their own seniors, our circumstances were unique. Seniors are multifaceted—they can be your friend, sibling, mentor, trainer, and more. They hold the power to support you when you need it most. We didn't have seniors to guide us, but we are determined to ensure that you, our juniors, never feel the same. We are here for you, ready to hold your hand and support you in every way possible. We didn’t have the guidance of seniors, but you do. Make the most of it.
