In December, Our Planet Needs You successfully launched its third planet-friendly initiative, Shop Sustainable. 🛍️ https://lnkd.in/enba3pjH ✈️ The fashion industry creates more carbon pollution every year than all the planes flying around the world combined. 😪 Unfortunately, 30% of new clothes made are never sold, with a HUGE amount of clothing and textiles ending up in landfill or being burned each year. 🤝 In partnership with Traid, we hosted a Swap Shop with our partner schools—helping children and families give pre-loved clothes a second life, reducing waste and unnecessary consumption. 💚 We also teamed up with Marisol Cordoba and her community sewing programme, La Modista, to run a Re-use Workshop. Children learned to upcycle old material into something new and unique. I first connected with Marisol through the Imperial College London and Startup Discovery School’s Green Together programme, highlighting how collaboration can lead to impactful, grassroots solutions. Together, we’re raising awareness about mindful consumerism, reducing waste, and empowering families to make sustainable choices.
