Do you want to do business in Live Events? Do you want to do short term business? or long term? If you want to do business with someone, put money in their pocket. What do I mean by this? Shouldn't we always be trying to get the absolute best possible deal we can get? shouldn't we watch every single penny? You can push, be strong, tough, and negotiate a deal that is profitable and killer for your team, but if it is so one-sided that the other party doesn't make money, they won't be back and we all need repeat business. That kind of deal is tailor made for the "short term" approach. I've always looked at the long game myself. Cut a deal that leaves something on the table for the other party and they will keep coming back for more. They will even promote you to other businesses who will want to be in business with you as well. The same holds true with experiences. Give people value for their money and they will keep coming back. Be fair, make money, but don't get things to the point where people say "I CAN'T go". Fairness and patience are a great combination. How do we balance getting the best deals we can get and making money? This is the ART of business. This is the challenge. Relationships matter. Every study out there will tell you that it is far easier to do more business with people you are already doing business with than it is to gain new clients/business. Value those relationships, be grateful they are doing well, but be fair. Don't be a pushover, and sometimes vendors get a bit too comfortable and think they just automatically have your business. Never hurts to shop around and make sure things are competitive. The vendors need to stay hungry, they need to EARN your business each day, but if they do, stick with them. A fair deal that has longevity > than a killer one time deal. Every time. #aegsev #aegpresents #empirepoloclub #aeg #business #befair #profitable #specialevents #liveevents #venues #sportingevents #festivals #repeatbusiness #clients #dmc #dmo #visitgreaterpalmsprings

P-Club next year? You’ve had a career year in 2024. You are probably pretty confident you’re qualifying for Presidents’ Club next year. Congrats! Celebrate. Book a trip. Splurge on a fancy dinner with your loved ones (those who sacrifice so much during the year so you can get to your goals). Now… let me tell you about P-club. There are two kinds of reps you’ll see at PClub in 2025: First group you’ll see walking with their head held up high. They are confident about belonging there. Not only did they have a remarkable 2024 but continued building momentum and confidence and are having a great 2025. They KNOW they’ll be at Club in 2026 as well. For them, PClub is not an achievement but a standard. You want to be in Group 1. The second group is a little bit different. Their laugh sounds just that tiny bit more nervous. Their stare is just a little more lost. They are not so eager to talk about 2025. They feel like they don’t belong here. See, people in this second group got busy celebrating a great 2024 and took their foot off the pedal. There’ll be many reasons why: “I was tired, “I deserved taking it slow in December”, “Q1 is always slow for me”, “my family was visiting”, “I was focused on closing deals in Q4” etc, etc, etc. You don’t want to be in Group 2. John Machado, David Torres, Tiago Correia, Luiza Ozório, Alejandro Chiossone, Jordan Benjamin 🧘 - you seem to always be in Group 1. How do you approach your work at the end of the year so you can have a PCLUB year every year? Who else do you know that is a perennial group one'er?

Want to know a little bit more about being an event manager where we create memories for life? Then have a read of this great article which spotlights the amazing Josh Cherrington #proud
🗣️ "Get out there and get stuck in. Be helpful, be passionate, but most of all – be nice to work with." AAA 30under30 alumni Josh Cherrington began working in live events following a stint playing in a ‘dreadful indie band’ as a teenager (his words, not ours). This exposure to the industry inspired him to pursue a career in live events. Since then, he has worked in a variety of roles across tours, venues and greenfield sites, which has led him to his current role as an event manager at the first direct arena in Leeds. Here, Josh reflects on his career highlights and offers a few words of advice for those looking to start a career in the events industry. #ASM #future #venue #live #arena https://lnkd.in/eXg7pcPj
