It turns out trying to expand the freedom of the open road has its limits—when taken too far, it can end up driving people apart. https://lnkd.in/dr8etUGU

It's time to reimagine our streets around people. 💭💡 Yesterday was World Car Free Day, a day when cities worldwide temporarily transform their streets into car-free zones, offering people a glimpse of a different, more pedestrian-friendly environment. 🚗🚫 But why limit our imagination to just one day a year? To really reimagine our streets around people, we need to be sharing ideas, starting conversations and building communities every day. 'Car Free Stories' by Possible serves this very purpose. This interactive map shares the stories of cities around the world moving to reduce traffic and cut the number of cars on roads. It might come as a surprise that, despite initial public opposition, most people are happy to leave car culture behind once the new system is in place. 👣🚲 Would you like to live in a world that prioritises people over cars? 🤔 Explore 'Car Free Stories': https://lght.ly/4ofpgii #CarbonLiteracy #WorldCarFreeDay #CarFreeDay #CarFreeCities #ReimagineOurStreets #CLResource #ClimateChange #ClimateAction

𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞... 𝐚 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐬 Do you remember the surreal silence during the pandemic, those deserted streets that looked like scenes from a movie? But a disruptive crisis is not necessary to embrace car-free cities. It can take the form of a movement, a citizens' effort similar to that of the Netherlands in the 1970s. They were tired of hearing about so many car accidents, particularly involving kids. The Netherlands is now a shining example of how cities can thrive even by significantly reducing car traffic. 🚴♂️ Imagine a safer, quieter, and more sustainable city for everyone. PS 1 What do you think about cities without cars? Let's talk about it! PS 2 I have been experimenting with AI-created voice. As per the latest data from Bitre 1303 people died in road crashes in Australia in the year ending May 2024. Twenty three percent of these are between the age group of 0 to 25 years. This is not sustainable. We all must make it a priority to drive safely. Motorcycle accidents in developing countries are a significant public health issue, with the lack of helmet use being a leading cause of fatalities. Many riders forgo helmets due to financial constraints, prioritizing spending on essential needs over safety gear. Additionally, there is often a lack of awareness about the importance of helmets and limited enforcement of safety regulations. To address this, big companies and organizations should distribute free helmets to increase their accessibility. Furthermore, motorcycle manufacturers should include helmets with every sale to ensure that all riders have access to this critical protective equipment.

Road deaths numbers worldwide are alarming. 🇩🇪 But what about Germany? Well… ⏱️Statistics show that every 15 seconds, there is a crash in Germany. 🚗 Every 939,000 traveled miles, there is a crash in Germany. 👨👩👦👦 Every 10,000 inhabitants, there are 39.7 victims injured because of a crash in Germany. There’s pain. There is sorrow. There are extremely high financial costs for all involved. At Urbix Hub we decided to change that. We are helping businesses to train their drivers with the last technology proven to prevent crashes by a 67%. After all, according to the World Economic Forum: “The private sector can undoubtedly be mobilised if we can more effectively convey that #roadsafety makes business sense.” We envision smarter and more sustainable cities for future generations and for businesses to thrive. We’re not leaving our future to luck or bad luck. We are taking it in our own hands. We are together and we are strong. #urbanmobility #mobility #visionzero #SDG #simulationtraining #EU
