Basics of curing 2 💡: Heat curing is often used for structural #adhesives. As an alternative to welding or riveting, this method occurs when bonded components are placed in a specialized oven in which heat ranging from 60 °C (140 °F) to as high as 180 °C (356 °F) radiates from all directions. Convection, induction, and tunnel ovens are generally used for the curing process. In some cases, induction can reduce the curing time 70-fold compared to convection ovens. A trommel machine, or trommel screen, is a mechanical device used for separating materials by size. It consists of a rotating cylindrical drum with perforated sides. As the drum rotates, the material is fed into it, and the smaller particles pass through the holes in the drum while the larger ones exit from the other end. Key components and features include: 1. **Rotating Drum**: The core component with perforated sides for screening. It can be horizontal or slightly inclined. 2. **Feed Hopper**: Where the material to be screened is introduced into the trommel. 3. **Screen Mesh**: Various sizes of mesh are used to separate particles of different sizes. 4. **Frame**: The structure supporting the drum and other components. 5. **Motor and Drive System**: Powers the rotation of the drum. 6. **Discharge Chutes**: Separate chutes for different sized materials. Trommels are commonly used in waste processing, mineral and aggregate processing, and composting operations. They are valued for their efficiency in separating materials and their ability to handle large volumes.

🔩 Series Introduction: Not All Bolted Joints Are Created Equal 🔩 Welcome to my new series where explore the intricacies of bolted joints! Today, let's debunk common misconceptions about tensioning versus torquing in large bolted joints. Torquing and Tensioning should both have their places in the bolting world as they both have their own benefits when installing a bolted joint. However, tensioning not only gets forgotten/confused with torquing, but it has some common falsehoods around it. "Tensioning is Complicated" Tensioning can easily be debated as simpler than torquing, especially with mechanical tensioners such as Superbolt. What is less complicated to operate, a hand click wrench or a specialized hydraulic torque tool with special attachments and software? "Torque is Cheaper" While tensioning tools can seem expensive, they often prevent costly maintenance and machine failures. That doesn't even include the upfront cost and repair/maintenance costs of today's torque tools for large bolted joints. "You Need Space for Tensioning Bolts" Contrary to belief, mechanical tensioning will achieve the highest amount of preload in the smallest amount of space. All torque tools for larger bolts require some sort of clearance vertically or horizontally from the joint. All too often we see a unique joint on a piece of equipment, designed specifically for the sole purpose of fitting a large tool around it. Mechanical tensioners remove that need. "Torque is Faster" While torque can be faster in some cases, hydraulic tensioning can simultaneously tighten entire flanges efficiently. In certain scenarios, mechanical tensioners with simpler tools can also save time and effort. Time is relative to the application.
