Be really good at deploying your entire software and infrastructure from the ground up. The best way to do that? Destroy it and recreate it frequently and routinely. Why should you be good at this? Because there are *many* scenarios where you need to [re]create your infra. To name a few: - There was a disaster - You need to create ephemeral lower lifecycle environments (dev, test, staging, etc.) - Migrations - Side-by-side upgrades - End-to-end (e2e) test environments If these requirements mean you need days, weeks, or even months with manual effort then it's a problem. You should be able to confidentally run your automation to create your new environment quickly and easily. And that's *only* achieved by doing this a lot and very often. When should you start doing this? The best time is when you create your project. Building in repeatability as you develop your software and systems is the easiest. The second best time is now.

Configuration management is a process and discipline used to ensure that the only changes made to a system are those that have been authorized and validated. It is both a decision-making process and a set of control processes. If we look closer at this definition, the basic configuration management process includes components such as identification, baselines, updates and patches. #Configurationmanagement

E2E Tests vs. Contract Tests: Why You Need Both End-to-end (E2E) tests are great for validating workflows across systems, but they have their limits: • They’re slow to execute. • Debugging failures can be time-consuming. That’s why we introduced contract testing in one of our projects. With contract tests: • We ensured API changes didn’t break communication between microservices. • We significantly reduced reliance on brittle, slow E2E tests. E2E and contract tests complement each other. Together, they ensure reliable APIs and faster feedback during development. If you’re still relying solely on E2E tests for API verification, consider adding contract testing to your toolkit. It’s a game-changer! How do you balance E2E and contract tests in your projects?
