KC8 Capture Technologies, founded in 2021, secured $10 million in funding from Woodside Energy and Cemex Ventures. This investment aims to expand the team and accelerate deployment of its carbon capture solutions across industries like construction, steel, energy, and chemicals. Despite initial scepticism, KC8 asserts its technology can capture up to 95% of CO2 emissions from heavy industries at 50% lower cost than existing methods, with a 15% energy consumption reduction. “As a global energy company, we understand the imperative to innovate and develop efficient, cost-effective solutions for sustainable energy production. KC8’s advancements are pivotal in enabling technological innovation towards this goal,” said Woodside’s VP of carbon solutions, Jayne Baird. #CarbonCapture #EmissionsReduction #KC8Technologies #SustainableEnergy #ClimateInnovation #GreenTech #IndustrialEmissions #CleanEnergy #TechInnovation #ClimateChangeSolutions

Green light for carbon capture and low carbon power joint venture projects in Teesside bp, together with its partners, today confirmed that it has reached financial close for two major carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in Teesside in the north-east of England: the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) and Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power). This follows the selection of nine contractors in March 2024 and gives the go-ahead for the projects to proceed to the execution phase. How are they financed? initially funded through optimal project financing, enabling efficient use of capital for both joint ventures and its partners. NEP’s infrastructure will have capacity to transport and store an initial four million tonnes of CO2 per year with the ability to expand in the future. bp will provide operating services to NEP. I’m pleased to share that, together with our partners, we’ve reached financial close for Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT P) and the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) giving the go ahead for these two major carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in Teesside to move to the execution phase. Both joint venture projects were selected for development under the UK Government’s CCUS cluster process, and follows the selection of nine contractors earlier this year. NEP, through its CO2 transport and storage system, will help develop and underpin a lower carbon future for industry in the region. NZT Power, a gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, will provide flexible low carbon power into the UK national power grid. The two projects will capture and transport millions of tonnes of CO2 and are expected to support thousands of jobs through their construction and operation. They represent a major step forward in CCS delivery for the UK and are another step forward for bp’s overall investment plans in the UK – which include both investing in today’s energy system, which is mainly oil and gas, and helping to build out tomorrow’s. We’re proud of the potential of these projects to help stimulate economic growth by supporting thousands of jobs and helping UK companies prosper through the vast supply chains involved, while creating the infrastructure to help major industrial companies with their decarbonisation plans. Today’s milestone is the result of the hard work of many people over many years and I’d like to thank all the teams involved. I look forward to seeing the projects move into the next phase. https://lnkd.in/eUtdzx5K
