Speaking of trends in giving, declining retention rates, fewer donors, "small dollar" giving, and All The Things #Fundraising, I am really looking forward to my OneCause webinar debut on Wednesday. Grateful, too, to Dawn Lynn Lego, CMP for inviting me and for being a terrific partner in developing this discussion . . . "Falling for Generosity" - I'm an unabashed, unapologetic, wide-eyed, goofy optimist about the power of generosity and our ability as enablers and empower-ers (is that word?) of giving to change the world (or at least our little corners of it.) This session is an update to my annual (going on 10 years now!!) compilation of industry trends, reports, statistics - no opinions or conjectures here, just actual data of what IS happening - and the time for this is really good with the GivingUSA report recently released, GivingTuesday's "Lookback" report released last week and a number of mid-year giving updates . . . . . We'll for sure talk about tactics heading into the last part of the year -- some call it "the giving season" I say the giving season is any time we invite communities into our missions, but there are certainly approaches in Q3 and Q4 that'll help 'rise above the noise.' Tune in, too, as we dispel myths about how hard it is to raise money during an election year and amidst economic turmoil. So many business owners could get behind a project such as this. These developments going up everywhere in Truro, but I have not heard anything about affordable housing in the mix. There are so many of our families, friends and neighbours are homeless with not enough beds. Folks don't need a great big space...only big enough for a bed, small kitchen area and a bathroom with a sink, toilet and upright shower. This would get people out of the cold and off the street for the winter. Have the Town donate some land for a project, donations of materials to build from local businesses, volunteers to come together with their skills. tools and the willingness to help...you never know, you might be helping a friend who is hitting rock bottom. Think about this...it can be done if everyone brings whatever the can to help. Don't have another cold winter watching folks sleeping on benches or behind buildings...the people of Truro are better than that.

Camden is a vibrant, multicultural borough, with 45.4% of Camden residents born outside the UK, contributing to its rich diversity, albeit with significant socio-economic challenges: - At 41%, Camden has the second-highest poverty rate in London.  - Camden faces the worst housing affordability in the capital.   - London’s Black and Asian communities have been disproportionately affected by the cost-of-living crisis.  - Over 2 in 5 Bangladeshis and nearly 1 in 3 Black Londoners live in overcrowded housing conditions in Camden, which is considerably higher than the UK average.  - There has been a 39% rise in hate crimes all over London in 2023 compared to 2022. Our incredible community researchers are examining the impact of structural racism on housing, education, employment, and safety across the borough.  Findings from our research will inform policy recommendations aimed at key development areas, such as enhancing community infrastructure, improving educational quality with better cultural training and diverse curriculum design, and fostering pathways to employment through collaboration with local businesses.
