Health and Safety at Work: Criminal and Civil Law Employers have the responsibility to ensure workplace health and safety, as both criminal and civil law apply. Failing to protect workers can lead to actions by regulators like HSE or local authorities under criminal law. Additionally, individuals affected by work-related incidents have the right to claim compensation under civil law. It's important to understand the distinctions between the two legal frameworks. Remember, HSE and local authorities do not dictate civil law or its procedures. #WorkplaceSafety #LegalResponsibilities

Injury Awareness Week, organised by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) from June 24-28, is highlighting workplace injuries this year. This is a vital time to focus on safety, prevention, and support for those affected by injuries. This week also underscores the importance of skilled and empathetic legal professionals in personal injury law. In the UK, over 693,000 workers sustained an injury at work in 2022, with 61,713 reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). These numbers highlight the critical need for effective safety measures. For those pursuing a legal career, Injury Awareness Week highlights the demand for lawyers who are not only proficient in legal matters but also compassionate and committed to helping clients navigate challenging situations. #legalrecruitment #injuryawarenessweek #workplaceinjuries

You've got 10 weeks... But you'll only need four of them.* On October 26 the Worker Protection Act will become law in the UK. Before the autumn, you'll want to ensure you've taken the following steps: - reviewed and updated (or created!) your harassment policies and realistic reporting procedures - conducted effective training sessions with employees (and scheduled regular follow-ups) - be sure you're taking any harassment complaints seriously. Simply having policies and training in place will not be enough, though 🔴 Is your overarching aim to introduce measures that are actually effective for those who need them? If reading through this post makes you feel unsure, uneasy and/or super motivated then drop me a DM. Let's work together to protect everyone at your company - including you! You'll have six weeks to spare.
