This is an excellent and informative article about the nuances in pitching journalists at different levels. I am wondering about tips from freelance journalists about how they prefer their pitches.
Also, as a freelance consultant and writer myself, I don’t pay for the expensive databases to find journalists because I prefer a different method.
“But, who wants to spend hours researching relevant reporters, their recent articles, and their contact info?”
It’s me, I enjoy this process very much and how it gives me insights into trends of my interest such as climate, clean tech investment and sustainability. I’d say one of my competitive advantages against a big more expensive PR firm is that I do this thorough and specific, personal process. It really is my passion!
