And so the journey begins....... Today was the last day of the central London Tech Week conference, a really engaging few days. I really joined in on some great sessions on multiple fronts, I went with intention to focus on three agenda items. 👩💻 The Technology 🌟 Leadership 📯 Personal Branding See below my learnings. 👩💻Technology. Again the landscape was engulfed by AI, so much information around "Big Data" and "Data Analytics" it really feels like the world has woken up around data value since 2022 but it still didn't satisfy my curiosity about at what layer is it best to run AI. With CoPilot, Gemini, Watsonx etc offering 1st party integration to static and structured data and then all of these 3rd party vendor's offering their own proprietary AI, Then when it comes to a custom need, you have further elements like Data Lake paired with Amazon AI/Azure AI/Chat GPT etc. Are we just moving the pendulum from left to right? 🌟 Leadership A really engaging session led by Jane Thier and a separate session led by Ann Francke OBE, provided food for thought. In my case, I'm often toiled between being visible and available as a leader in my team in "Core Hours" and realistically moving time away from my family time bucket to attend OOH calls doesn't create a sustainable balance nor does it set the right example, a reflection that Flexible working and Async is so much more beneficial than we all realise. 📯 Personal Branding My favourite session of the week led by Elinor Honigstein was packed into the smallest stage with people fighting for seats. The realisation set in not long after the fracas that despite seemingly being focused at start-ups the application of personal branding steps firmly into the playground of any ambition individual! I loved seeing the geeky side of tech too, finally someone is doing something fun with holograms Miirage | Holographic Displays, OMODA UK had a robot cat (always amusing) and the Nook Pod USA created a nice hideaway when I needed to work. Finally as always really good to connect with humans about products and experiences, hopefully some of these can work themselves into future business! #ltw #londontechweek #miirage #personalbranding #AI #Networking #goodtimes

If you scroll here for just a few minutes, everyone is talking about AI, but how do you get started if you’re a large organisation. What are the first steps to move from talking about AI to implementing it even as a pilot project? Where are the quick wins? What budget is needed? Yesterday in London I had the privilege of presenting to all of the Directors at Colliers UK and I addressed these very questions. Towards the end of my talk, I mentioned a tip I realised that I have been providing since 2017, as this video below shows. You need to leverage the “two tribes” in your organisation. The Going-Digital: Highly experienced executives who know how to win business with digital skills that are still developing. The Born-Digital: Their first toy was an iPhone. They live and breathe digitally and are hungry to share what they know with the Going-Digital. These two tribes need each other, and the best way to bring them together is with a Hackathon. How do you get one of these started? Task the eager Born-Digitals with this task and watch them bring it together in record time. Turning back to the topic of AI, why not run a Hackathon on how to leverage AI at your company? This is a perfect way to bring all the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm together at a very low cost to develop ideas that can become a rapid prototype or a minimum viable product (MVP). Do you still feel guilty using AI in your work? 🤔 Yesterday, I attended a fascinating Ladies in Product Barcelona meetup where we discussed leveraging AI in our daily work as product managers. One topic that resonated with many was the feeling of guilt when using AI tools for work. If you've felt this way, you're not alone – but it's time to reframe our perspective. 🔄 Why should we embrace AI without guilt? 🤗 My favorite definition of PM work is that it's about delivering business impact by marshaling the resources of your team (both human and AI) to identify and solve the most impactful customer problems. 1️⃣ Efficiency is key, using technologies is key. 🚀 Also, I believe that a Product Manager with skills to harness AI capabilities is going to be most valuable in the tech world. 2️⃣ AI is a tool, not a replacement. 🛠️ It's designed to enhance our capabilities, not replace our expertise. 3️⃣ Continuous learning. 📚 Engaging with AI tools exposes us to new ideas and approaches, fostering our growth as professionals. 4️⃣ Competitive advantage. 💪 Companies that effectively integrate AI will outperform those that don't. By embracing these tools, we're contributing to our organization's success. 5️⃣ Ethical use is our responsibility. 🧭 Instead of feeling guilty, channel that energy into ensuring AI is used ethically and responsibly in your workflows.
