In our ongoing series on the European Championship 2024 we look at similarities and differences of the countries playing. ⚽ Denmark and England share a strong maritime tradition and a deep-rooted royal heritage. Culturally, England is distinguished by its dark humor and love of theater, while Denmark is well known for its minimalist design style and Viking history. Denmark 🇩🇰: Hygge magic: Denmark is known for its concept of 'hygge', which means cosy relaxation and socializing. They take their hygge very seriously - candles, warm blankets and good food are the basics for a perfect hygge experience. 💝 Little mermaid: Copenhagen is home to the renowned Little Mermaid statue, perched on a harbor rock, symbolizing Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale legacy, the city's maritime heritage, and eternal themes of love and sacrifice. It remains one of the most photographed landmarks in Denmark's capital. 🧜🏽♀️ Danish design: Denmark's design legacy shines through iconic furniture by Jacobsen and Wegner, while LEGO's inventive bricks continue to inspire creativity globally. 🤩 England 🏴: Teatime tradition: In England, "teatime" is more than just having a cup of tea. It is an institution! English people take their tea breaks very seriously. Rituals abound and tea is traditionally served with scones, clotted cream and jam. ☕ Weather chatter: In England, small talk often revolves around the ever-changing weather, which is a national obsession due to its unpredictability. Whether discussing sunny spells, showers, or snow, chatting about the weather is a social icebreaker and a shared cultural pastime. ☀⛈ Linguistic curiosities: There are numerous place names in England that are notoriously difficult to pronounce if you're unfamiliar with them. For instance, "Cholmondeley" (pronounced "CHUM-lee") is a prime example of such linguistic tongue twisting. 💬 How do you think each country will represent themselves through their team? 🌎⚽ #globalmobility #hrconsulting #championship #denmark #england #culturehackers #culture

Straight out of a gothic novel - Five great reasons to organise an event in Luxembourg: 1. Unmatched public transport There may be no better example of human-centric, sustainable, reliable and clean public transport than that of Luxembourg. As timely as a Swiss watch and clean as a Singaporean sidewalk, trams, buses and trains in Luxembourg are a traveller’s best friend in this country. 2. Walkable city With only around 135,000 citizens, Luxembourg City’s compact city centre seems made for walking. From the Gothic front liners to hidden bars, you can walk it all in no time. Keep your eyes peeled for the colourful murals and artworks strewn across the less-fancy facades. 3. Varied selection of hotels Although pricey, the host of hotels in the city includes hotel chains such as Mama Shelter, Novotel, Melia and others. There is thus a suitable choice for everyone. We recommend staying in one of the hotels in the Kirchberg district near the European Parliament. 4. Film culture embodied The city harbours a tremendous love for its filmmakers, and connecting an event with a cinematic experience will surely inspire guests and stakeholders alike. Lights, camera, action! 5. Exclusivity and boutiqueness Luxembourg lures investments because of its enviable quality of life and family-friendly policies. An event in Luxembourg will satisfy even the most demanding event organisers. Attendees who fancy a post-event shopping spree can idly stroll the endless corridors of prestigious brands in the city centre. During my recent visit to Nürnberg, where I had the honor of participating in the selection committee for the Max Weber Programm of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, I seized the opportunity to revisit one of the city's most iconic landmarks - the Schöner Brunnen. Whenever I am there I make it a point to stop by this magnificent fountain, a masterpiece that has stood in the marketplace since the 14th century. The Schöner Brunnen, or "Beautiful Fountain," is not only a piece of medieval artistry but also a beacon of lore and tradition. Among its richly decorated figures that depict the world-view of the Holy Roman Empire, there lies a golden ring embedded in the iron grilles. And, you guessed it, spinning it is said to bring good luck - I am not superstitious, but it is still fun spinning it. Each visit, I'm reminded of the unique stories and legends that global destinations harbor, enriching our travels and experiences. I find that such landmarks add a layer of cultural depth and personal enjoyment to our work travels. Whether it's the vibrant history of a medieval fountain in Germany or a bustling street market in Asia, there's always something fascinating to discover. These experiences not only broaden our horizons but also connect us more deeply with the places and people we encounter in our professional journeys. To my fellow travelers and expatriates: What are some of the memorable landmarks you've encountered in your travels? How have these places enriched your experiences abroad? #SchönerBrunnen #MasteringGM #travelstories #Nürnberg -- 🌍 Interested in more insights on Global Mobility, HR, and International HRM? Mobility Grants Program / Testimony! Reminder; the deadline for host institutions to validate the applications for the 7th call for mobility grants before final evaluation by the steering committee is on the 15th of March. Maria Maya Ertl, Brand Manager for Schönbrunn Group, was able to spend a few days of professional exchange within multiple departments of the Château de Versailles. Thinking of changes within the cultural environment brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis and how those affect palace visitors, Maria had this to say ➡ “In the cultural environment, where no ‚typical product’ but a service is being sold, the brand serves as a guide and creates emotions. Brand interaction should lead to a positive experience in which the customer expectations are not only met but also (ideally) exceeded.[…] Changes in people's lifestyles and the supply chain of businesses led to new phenomena and consumers began to examine products, services and brands from a new perspective. The brands on the one hand need to stay authentic and in alignment with their core values, but on the other hand they should be ‘fluid’ enough to be able to face this paradigm shift.” 🌎 Access further information on the website of the Network of European Royal Residences right here : https://lnkd.in/eTPwy3we #networking #career #development #grants #testimony #patrimoine #heritage

Experiencing the Magic of Samichlaus in Switzerland 🎅 🪄 Having recently moved to a small village in Switzerland, I had the unique opportunity to witness a beautiful local tradition—the Samichlaus Parade. Unlike the city parades I have seen before, this one was intimate, cultural, and filled with the sound of Swiss cowbells echoing through the streets. 🔔 This year, the parade passed directly in front of my house, and I felt truly integrated into the community when the cowbell players performed especially for my 2-year-old son. Watching his joy and curiosity as he experienced a new culture was a moment I will cherish forever. 🎊 This experience reminded me of the importance of connecting with local traditions and cultures. Just as this event brought us closer to the community, understanding and respecting local customs is equally crucial in professional life. Businesses that take the time to understand the local culture, language, and mindset can create meaningful connections, whether with local stakeholders or international partners. 🎊 🌟 Reflection: How can we embrace and adapt to local cultures—whether in life or business—to foster better connections and growth? I would love to hear your experiences: Have you ever immersed yourself in a local tradition that left a lasting impression? How do you think businesses can better integrate into local markets to create stronger networks? 👐 Let's celebrate the magic of culture and connection, both personally and professionally! #Networking #Culture #SamichlausTradition #Connection

From the Housing crisis to AI in action, we want to share all the key take-aways from the LD Events Property London Resi Investment conference, highlighted by our Portfolio Manager Jay A.! 🔸 Housing development is still at an all time low due to the markets, a lack of resource in the planning departments and incentive for construction. 🔸 The UK is still falling behind the rest of Europe in terms of the number of houses being built. 🔸 The gap between home ownership and renting is greater year on year. Jay reflected on the event for us: ''We also had the privilege of seeing AI in action and I look forward to seeing the continued implementation of AI in our ways of working. I think we will continue to have uncertainty until there is more stability in politics. One of the things that resonated with me during the talks was the idea of collaboration. We need to see more of this between developers and stakeholders in order to make more homes. This will involve a degree of resourcing and the majority of developments will hit snags once they get to the planning stage. Something will have to give to restore a balance to the supply and demand for housing.''
Had an insightful day yesterday attending the London Resi Development conference. The conference focused on the politics and uncertainty in the market. One interesting concept discussed was the new co-living trend. Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting Shawn Karim, Development Manager at Dolphin Living, one of our London clients. Keep an eye on our Touchstone LinkedIn space for my thoughts on the conference! #LondonResiDev #CoLiving #RealEstateConference #LDEresi
