In honour of Healthcare Security and Safety Week 2024, we are highlighting the theme, "It Takes a TEAM to Lead, Prevent and Intervene." This theme underscores the vital role of teamwork in maintaining safety and security within healthcare settings. At Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH), our security officers embody this principle through their steadfast commitment, diligence, and care. Denver, our Security Supervisor, shares, "I chose to work in Healthcare Security to develop crucial skills in de-escalation, critical thinking, and customer service. My goal is to eventually work in law enforcement, and gaining practical experience in handling mental illness, addictions, and other health-related issues within a healthcare setting is invaluable preparation.” Jakob, our Security Team Lead, reflects on his role, saying, "I take pride in being one of the first faces patients and visitors see. Helping them with directions, returning lost items, or assisting them in reaching the Emergency Department brings me great satisfaction. It’s fulfilling to make someone’s day a bit better through these interactions." Kaitlyn, one of our Dispatchers, shares her perspective on this year's theme: "This theme represents the strength of working together. Many dedicated staff members contribute to the smooth operation of the hospital. By supporting each other, we can provide exceptional care and maintain a strong presence in our community." Captain - As a health professional, I have come across numerous misconceptions about how to keep the V clean - by introducing different forms of chemicals to the area. .. Let me go raw and a bit hard on addressing this issue of vaginal steaming and tightening. Yes, dear sister, your V should be clean and should have a nice smell, but definitely not the smell of the lily flower. .. Introducing all forms of chemicals to the V in the name of roasting, cleaning, washing, or whatever affects the biological make-up of the place. .. Please, in instances where you're having an abnormal discharge, foul smell, itching, painful urination, and more, visit a clinician. .. However, the truth is that some of these feminine washes leave behind an unbearable scent or odour in the long run. .. Keep your vulva clean! The vagina will take care of itself. .. And to my guys, stop swallowing these chemicals during intercourse. You will get your tonsils and throat infected. .. PS: Both the picture and written content attached are for educational purposes.

Occupations can define who we are and sometimes occupations follow us, even when we are no longer actively within the occupation. This is the case for service personnel. What a great initiative #Veterans #OccupationalHealth beyond the occupation

A patient who shares their positive experience in a story is recommending you in a way that is memorable and full of opportunity for your organization. Luigi Pirandello, the Italian playwright said: “A fact is like a sack which won’t stand up when it is empty. In order that it may stand up, one has to put into it the reason and sentiment that caused it to exist.” A story can efficiently convey multiple reasons why someone should choose you. Greenwich Hospital in CT created a video to celebrate the opening of a new wing. A patient told her story of how newly obtained equipment for ambulance crews helped her survive a heart attack and how cardiac rehabilitation restored her vitality. Her results included: “I’ve seen four more grandchildren come into the world. I feel great!” Hospital executive Jeff Atwood invited managers to bring employees who had been recognized by patients or family to hospital board meetings. The manager would tell the board how meaningful the associate’s kindness was for the patient or family. This process : - created memorable experiences for the staff member, the manager and the board. - reinforced the organization’s mission, vision and values. - provided good stories to share in the community. Have you heard a story that made you feel positive about an organization? Please share in the comments! #patientexperience #HCAHPS #willingtorecommend

WHERE do you get new staff from????Even with a $25,000 retention bonus people aren't moving. Employers are offering $40/hr more than team based primary care can offer and via remote positions....what happens when people actually need a physical assessment?
What’s happening in Sault Ste. Marie is an example of what’s happening across Ontario and how the crisis is escalating. Every effort must be made to retain the family doctors we have now and recruit the family doctors of the future.
