On Wednesday, 25th of September 2024 - almost one month ago the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications launched Ireland’s Circularity Gap Report The report creates an important impact baseline of the country’s circularity performance and comes at a welcome demonstration of how we can engage in working towards a vision for Ireland’s transition to circularity; explaining the concept of the circular economy, describing what initiatives are already happening, what opportunities are available and how Government will drive the changes required. The report outlines specific pathways to reduce material consumption by 29% and cut carbon emissions by 32%, while tripling the country’s circularity rate from 2.7% to 8.4%.
