In 1860, Sidney George Fisher was a famous attorney, wealthy plantation owner and researcher, author and poet. He wrote two popular books: "The Laws of Race, As Connected With Slavery" and "The Trial of the Constitution." Fisher's explanation of white supremacy remains the definitive description of what white supremacists still believe today. In Fisher's day, leading up to and through the Civil War, white supremacist ideology was the mainstream belief across America, which was established as a whites-only citizenry and remained so until White "radicals" changed the Constitution in 1868 with the 14th amendment. Such a change in the law did not change the attitudes and sentiments of the majority of White America. This is the struggle we have all inherited as a nation. During Black History Month, let us also look at the history of White America and its hostile landscape, which produced societal conditions that serve as a constant backdrop behind the history of many generations of Black people in a strange land struggling to achieve. The truth has a power all its own to transform hearts and minds. That is why it remains intentionally hidden by those who seek to sustain their own power and control of society. Let us expose the truth and allow it to speak for itself. https://lnkd.in/guxFUdbE

It’s good to see renewed interest in constitutional reform. The Civil Rights Act probably should be codified as a Constitutional Amendment. And we need to bring our interest in civil liberties and privacy into the digital age with new Amendments. #ethics #government #AI #publicpolicy #civilliberties #civilrights
