GRIT & RESILIENCE Resilience is a key component of grit. Gritty people have the mental toughness to bounce back from setbacks and keep pushing forward. They view challenges as opportunities for growth and don't let temporary obstacles derail their long-term vision. While talent plays a role, Duckworth's research makes it clear that passion and perseverance are the true drivers of outstanding achievement. Grit can be developed through cultivating interests, practicing deliberately, finding purpose, and maintaining hope in the face of setbacks. So if you want to reach your full potential, focus on building your grit. Pursue your passions with relentless determination, embrace the struggle, and never give up on your dreams. When it comes to personal growth and achieving our goals, grit is the fuel that keeps our engines running. It’s that mix of passion and perseverance that helps us push through obstacles and keep moving, even when things get tough. Grit is also a big part of building confidence. I see it every week in my coaching groups—women show up, no matter what kind of week they’ve had. They show up for the boost of confidence, they show up for the support to problem-solve situations, they show up to deconstruct challenging moments from the week, they show up for inspiration, and they show up for each other. And every time they show up, their grit gets a little stronger. It’s about learning to embrace and learn from failures—just one of the 10 dimensions in the Confidence Wheel™ we work with. Angela Duckworth’s TED talk dives deep into the power of grit, and it’s a reminder that confidence and grit are connected. Both are needed to stay the course, achieve your goals, and become the best version of yourself. If you haven’t watched it yet, it’s a must-see. And if you have, maybe give it another watch—you might find new insights that speak to where you are right now. It’s just six minutes long, but packed with wisdom that will leave you feeling ready for whatever comes next. https://lnkd.in/erxTFt3U

Resilience Those who build true resilience are often no strangers to setbacks. For some, challenges may feel insurmountable, tempting them to give up. But for others, setbacks become opportunities to dig deep, adapt, and keep moving forward. This is where character is built. True greatness is not simply a product of intelligence or talent; it is forged through the continuous shaping of one’s character. Grit—our determination to keep going despite adversity—is what ultimately defines success. So, don’t stop. Each challenge you overcome strengthens your resilience and brings you one step closer to greatness. Dont stop. Keep going, Until... https://lnkd.in/eYkZqSAP

The Number One Predictor of Success Want to know the real difference between those who succeed and those who don’t? It’s not talent. It’s not intelligence. It’s not luck. It’s GRIT. Grit is the number one predictor of success. Angela Duckworth’s research proved it: Grit isn’t about how fast you succeed. It’s about how long you stay in the game. Grit isn’t about avoiding failure. It’s about bouncing back stronger every time. Grit isn’t glamorous. It’s relentless. The world is full of talented people who quit too soon. The ones who win? They’re the ones who show up, grind harder, and refuse to quit—even when it’s uncomfortable, inconvenient, or downright brutal. You need to outlast everyone else. https://lnkd.in/d_aSysxe

Angela Lee Duckworth's research shows that success is more about long-term perseverance and passion than just talent or intelligence. This combination is called "grit." Grit means having passion and sticking with things over the long term, even when it’s hard. It’s about setting goals and working towards them with purpose, even when faced with challenges. Passion means having a deep interest in something and being driven by it. It’s not just about being excited for a short time, but about committing to a long-term goal or cause. You can develop passion over time by committing to something important and nurturing your interest through experience. Perseverance means being able to keep going even when progress is slow or setbacks happen. It’s about showing up and working hard consistently, even on days when you don’t feel motivated. People with grit understand that failures and challenges are part of the process. Instead of giving up, they see obstacles as opportunities to learn and keep working towards their goals. The power of passion and perseverance is a big factor in long-term success. While talent and intelligence matter, it is grit—the relentless pursuit of goals with dedication and hard work—that sets apart those who succeed. Duckworth's research suggests that anyone can develop grit by cultivating passion, perseverance, and a growth mindset, ultimately unlocking their potential for success. I firmly believe that by utilizing the Grit method, I can pursue and excel in all endeavors in my life.

'One significant characteristic emerged as a significant predictor of success: Grit.' In her fascinating TED Talk, Angela Duckworth explains the meaning of Grit. ➡ Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. ➡ Grit is having stamina. ➡ Grit is sticking with your future, day in and day out, not just for the week but for the month and years, and working hard to make that future a reality. ➡ Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint. Angela is a proponent of a 'growth mindset'. Persevere when you fail. Don't believe failure is a permanent condition. Do you have Grit? Do your team members have Grit? Should you be recruiting for Grit? #grit #growthmindset #vistage
