Moving? Don't Let Utilities Slow You Down!
I've moved a lot, and I've learned that getting your utilities sorted can be tricky. Here's what works for me:
Tell your utility companies as early as you can - about a month before you move is great. If you can't do that, at least give them two days' notice. This helps you get your final bills faster.
My best advice? As soon as you sign for your new home, start calling about utilities. It's smart to get this done early.
Here's a helpful tip: If you're not moving far, ask if your current company can just move your service to the new place. It's easier than starting over.
Moving to a new area? Look into services that help set up utilities. They might find you better deals for your new home.
(Shameless plug: My Utilities can help make this process easier. Just saying!)
A little planning now will make “moving day” much smoother. Good luck with your move!

💡 Worried about high utility costs in your rent-to-rent business? You're not alone! Here's how I tackled it:
🔌 The utility crisis has shown that if tenants aren't paying for it, they often don't respect it. This can severely impact your profits.
🛠️ The solution? Installing smart thermostats in all properties. This allows us to remotely control the usage and even turn off the heating when tenants are out.
🏡 HMO tenants on holiday? No problem, we ensure the heating isn't left on, saving costs and boosting profits.
💬 If you're just starting out, top tip: work with landlords to get smart thermostats installed. They might even fund them. Trust me, it's a game-changer!

So excited to be strengthening our relationship with the ENERGY STAR program! Since 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners helped American families and businesses avoid more than $500 billion in energy costs and achieve more than 4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas reductions.
The ENERGY STAR Home Upgrade (ESHU) program builds upon that success and will help move our country into the clean energy future.
Supporting and recognizing high-quality, competent contractors that can assess, design, and properly install home upgrades will be critical. These large and small businesses are also an engine for economic growth and create good, stay-in-America jobs. Heating and cooling contractors, electricians, energy auditors, plumbers, and other skilled tradespeople are the backbone of the clean energy future.
